would you rather win 1, 10, 50, 100, or 500 million $
I have always thought of myself as someone that does not need a lot of money.
But, when you lay out the options like this, then I struggle to pass on the 500 million and settle for 1 million.
I say this knowing very well that I would be super happy if I matched five numbers and won 1M on PB.
However with the options given and my ability to manage the money (or so I think) I will have to go with the more the better option.
I believe I would impact way more people when I have more

I'm done playing the lottery
I feel the same way about banks overdraft fees!
When the rich make the rules...which they usually do, the common people get screwed and everything favors the rich man!
The machine rips you off for your dollars and you have no recourse to get back your money! The rich man pockets your money and heads to the golf course.
That is how the game is played.
Banks made over 6 BILLION DOLLARS in overdraft fees every year for the past several years!
Like those annoying drug commercial

I'm done playing the lottery
I've spent $200 on PB tickets and plenty of money on scratch-off tickets at the vending machine at Safeway on Wadsworth 38th Ave in Wheatridge, CO. I didn't win very much, which I expected given the prize structure of that game.
The last time I went there, I scanned $40 worth of winning scratch-off tickets, selected 8 $5 tickets, and when I hit check out , the machine did nothing. I asked the clerk and she told me to contact the Colorado Lottery. I did, and their response was that the retail

Florida's Fantasy 5
Chris,
First, good luck to you. Sticking for years with a set of personal or lucky numbers has paid off handsomely for some players, although I've read that players that have won a jackpot playing that way have said It took forever for those numbers to come home! You're 20+ years in so hopefully it won't be long and they'll pop.
Personally I've been playing the lottery for over 20 years myself. I've never played a specific set of numbers regularly, but to each his own. I'm a transplant

Iowa Lottery has delivered $6.1B in prizes since 1985
Iowa Lottery celebrates 40 years
Sales of the first Iowa Lottery tickets began in 1985 with a kickoff celebration at the Iowa State Fair. Forty years later, state fairgoers broke the Guinness World Record for the most people 1,380 to scratch lottery cards simultaneously, demonstrating the lottery's journey from $1 scratch tickets to a multibillion-dollar enterprise.
Since its launch was approved by the state Legislature and signed into law by then-Gov. Terry Branstad, the lottery has gen

Mississippi Lottery halts Cash 3 triple payout promotion one week in
Those funds intended to pay out the prizes tells us that they knew the promotion would cost them money
Those funds were apparently only enough for six days and not for the entire month of November they advertised.
There is no specific limit on the number of Mississippi Cash 3 tickets an individual can purchase for a single drawing; players can generally buy as many as they want.
Can't find if there is an aggregate payout limit, but if there is no limit, in another week players that

Data breach at lottery tech vendor Brightstar exposes personal info of over 100,000 individuals
Mega Millions Price hike : In April 2025, the price of a Mega Millions ticket more than doubled, increasing from $2 to $5. This price jump was not well-received by many customers, leading them to stop playing. While the overall dollar intake and lottery profits have increased in some areas, the number of tickets sold has dropped significantly.
The sharp downward trend, according to Mass Lottery Executive Director Mark William Bracken, can be traced directly to the size or rather the lack th

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Sure, the rest of us have no problem paying income taxes on our hard-earned wages and salaries while the lucky winner of a massive jackpot should pay nothing.
It's mind-boggling how many people are willing to subsidize somebody who has 50, 100, 1000 or 100,000 times as much money as they do.
You wouldn't be saying that if you won.
There are some countries that do not tax lottery winnings. Unfortunately we are not one of them.

mathematics of re-playing small wins
I did my analysis on scratch-off tickets because most of the prize money goes towards lower prizes. With jackpot accumulation draw games such as Powerball, not much goes to lower prizes.
To summarize my first post, for the $5 Colorado scratch-off $100,000 Super Bonus, the average number of tickets played is 2.5x or 3x your original bankroll, depending on whether your stop point is $500 or $1,000. Not surprisingly, the improved odds of winning a large prize exactly correlate with the average
