New computer
I convinced my boss to let me get an E-machine to replace my dying Toshiba laptop this year. For $299, I have to say, we didn't go wrong. Machine works like a charm, have had absolutely no problems with it.You might also want to consider MicroCenter. Their regular special is a $100 mail-in rebate if you qualify and buy a computer on a MicroCenter credit card. Brings the cost of those Lindows systems down to $99 after rebates.Lindows is a variation of Linux/Unix running a graphical interface simi

Lottery Cheats Ruin Players' Chances
talk about being cheated by store clerks, it happened to me on July 26, 2003 as a clerk was checking my tickets I turned to get a soda from a machine, the terminal made the $winning$ sound and as I approached the clerk and asked him how much it was, he said it was nothing and that he had made a mistake and there was no winner, when I asked to see the ticket, he refused to disclose it and said he was very busy and did not have time to check the ticket again. after a verbal exchange to no avail, I

Powerball is on a winners streak again!
I play starting at the $100 Million level only 'cause I take a slight trip to get to Georgia to buy the tickets. If Mega was cheating with the first 11 or 12 draws I wouldn't play and something tells me most of the people here wouldn't play.It would introduce quite a few other options like select a state to win where they have a winner in a state to raise slumping sales. Eventually you know they would get caught and goodbye mega and possibly goodbye most multi-state lotteries. I don't feel th

Mega Millions Megaball Challenge 7/1/05
This one's nice and simple Guess your top 10 picks for the Mega Ball for this friday's Mega Millions Drawing here are mine with what I think are the highest probability first:35 = high13 = high16 = high23 = high27 = high30 = high33 = high2 = lower7 = lower14 = lowerNormally, with 10 different guesses you have about a 22 % chance of getting it right. Lets see how many different people, using different systems pick the same numbers. We can check and see if those unanimous numbers have a h

Could you see a day...
Kansas still has a half-dollar ticket. I read on one of these threads that NY does, also. Maybe the trend is running that way. If KS and NY are making a higher margin on 50 cent tickets than the others are making on dollar ones it seems to me there'd be a race to get there quickest by all.I'd bet KS is selling twice the tickets per capita and not giving away any more money than, say, NM Roadrunner. Maybe more than twice as many tickets per capita because a half buck seems like such a Gawdawf

RE: 4/14 IL mid. pick-4 draw...
Did anyone else see that??? Pick 3 was drawn OK and the first number of the Pick 4 was drawn and they stopped the drawing with a technical problem screen....with the drawing, not the broadcast.First number of the pick 4 was 9***.I wouldn't have won anyway but am curious as to why the draw was stopped in mid-draw. I've seen mistakes before and that always has indicated to me that it was broadcast live. But today's message came as the second pick-4 digit was about to be drawn. How could they h

computers record the combinations played
recoding the combinations played is invasion of privacy and cheating. all thats needed is a encrypted serial number placed with each ticket to validate that ticket. you can call any vendor who manufactures any rng or ball machine to verify this. recording numbes played is not needed for security reasons at all. the tickets themselves are made of certain fibers and have hidden words and stuff within the entire ticket fibers. the machine pint head also is a special print head which is made for lot

Can Lotto be cheated?
I think lotteries were cheated a lot in the past with counterfit tickets for relatively small amounts people could cash at the local retailer and vanish.Every so often you read about people altering tickets, but now the computer and scanners catch that stuff, only one payoff per serial number, all terminals online no local payoffs if the system is down.On the other hand, wonder if the lottery ever cheats players, say a ticket is not a winner when it is. We know they announce larger prizes then

Group buys every Pick 3 lottery combination and wins
Quote: Originally posted by Todd on August 09, 2004Now, maybe this is all moot. He would have saved himself big-time if he played .50 bets per betslip, whereupon each winning ticket would be $300, and could be redeemed at a lottery retailer. However, the article didn't imply this.It would not matter if enough people knew about it that a news article was written about it. One of the rules of cheating on your taxes is to not talk publicly about it. Same rule applies if you also find a way to m
