Indiana Powerball lottery winners likely to remain anonymous
When you win millions of dollars it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that your lifestyle will change and some people will notice. People who know you, people who work with you. You know, the kind of people that pools are made of. If the people who won were involved in any pools, it's safe bet that other members of the pool(s) will notice, and get suspicious. If anybody who played in a pool thinks pool tickets were bought at the store where the winning ticket was sold they may just start payin

Lottery win opens doors for N.Y. doorman
This applies to Washington State, not to Florida, but here is the reply I received from our lottery office when I made an inquiry last summer: We make several payments entities to other than a natural person. Any person(s) claiming a prize agrees to abide by all laws, rules, and regulations associated with lottery prize claims. The winner's name, city, and prize amount are subject to public disclosure laws. The only option to remain anonymous would be by court order. I hope this clarifies mat

$196M Ohio lottery winner trying to claim anonymously?
I am actually kind of surprised at some of the reactions to this story. With all the questions about how to claim anonymous to protect from the kooks and moochers with sob stories showing up at your door or in your mail, you would think all of you would be cheering this person on. It sounds to me like someone is attempting to take the right steps anyway. Anonymous claiming would be my first question, maybe not via blind trust. I don't really know at this point. If my first inquiry resulted in

Confidential tax...
LOLOLOL yeah because the states taking over 60% from all wagers isn't enough. There's a reason some states don't allow you to remain anonymous. It's for publicity and also adds credibility to the lottery. My take is, you shouldn't be allowed to remain anonymous. PERIOD.

Montana Lottery has a new web site
I read this on the site - very sad. 17. Is it possible to win the lottery and remain anonymous? No. In Montana, by law, your name, the amount won, and the town you're from is public information. It is not possible to win the Lottery in Montana and remain anonymous.

Which scenario would you prefer??
The scenario I prefer is WINNING anonymous, not anonymous, Lotto, Powerball, Mega, annual payments, lump sum. We all talk about how, when which way...but I just want to win a jackpot and then worry about the rest. (However, my answer is #1)

Protection after a huge jackpot lottery win
No. Oklahoma and Delaware for sure also. Somewhere in the News forum there's pictures of Delaware winners holding big cardboard circles in front of their face (Delaware's answer to anonymous I guess. There's also a post in the News from sometime last year when a couple in Oklahoma won and just made a statement to the press that they wished to remain anonymous, let people know jackpots can be won, and to play but make sure they played responsibly.

'Infrequent buyer' claims $34M Powerball lottery jackpot
What if it's someone I know? Someone being stingy with me maybe they won and aren't telling me? And they have to tell you why? Judging from that comment, it's no wonder people want to remain anonymous. If I had the choice I would remain anonymous also. So what? I wouldn't owe you or anyone else anything, but the point is moot for me because the state I am in doesn't allow it. I do plan on being vague and boring if I do win. I have no desire for old friends and family members thinking the

Why the sudden concern with anonymity ?
The big question is why no anonymity. There isn't a valid reason why winners should be made public if they choose not to be. It will only be a matter of time before a winner is told they can't be anonymous and then something bad happens to them. The lottery at that point would be fully culpable. I think if a winner want's to go for the Operah route and be public after the win then that would be their business and their problem. Winners should always have a choice if they want to take the ris
