Does anyone collect scratch tickets?
I have played scratch tickets in CA, MA, NH and RI.In CA I had to cash the winning ticket in the same store I bought it from.I think MA had the best tickets, in payout percentage and design until we elected a conservative republican as governor. The design is still good but winning is really much harder now, especially on the $10 tickets. He even changed the keno games from 5 minute intervals to 4 minute intervals to increase state revenues. Now keno starts at 5am instead of the old time of 11am

time of purchase
I heard once that alot of winners (regardless of the location or type of lottery) play the same day of the draw. As far as time goes, I image most do it on their lunch breaks or perhaps on their way to or from work. I never found playing tickets at a particular time or on a particular day had any bearing on me winning a prize.I also recall an entry on Lottery Post not long ago where a New Jersey man won a large jackpot by playing the same five quick picks several draws in advance. October Picks

Right now one of the top pairs that is due to fall is 6/8 in the Michigan 3 digit. You can cover that pair for $5.00 a drawing. After 8 draws you would lose money if that pair doesn't fall.... Thus you would need to increase what you bet to cover what you have spent, and as long as you have the kitty, you can

Players cross the border for Powerball
Quote: Originally posted by Thomas Covenant on October 08, 200A more realilistic way to look at it is there are 1800 number combinations that will win for you, and 120,524,970 combinations that will lose. 1800 tickets really doesn't make a dent in the total number combinations. If you will notice, that 1800 bucks was for Wednesdays drawing, which no one won. I have been waiting for the voice of realism here remember just because you purchase more tickets does not increase your odds just your cha

Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $177 Million
Quote: Originally posted by dvdiva on October 04, 2004will probably be 220-230 next roll and 300-320 after that.more than likely someone will hit in the next 2 drawings since both mega and powerball have had great difficulty breaking the 300 million mark since 2002The PB can only increase by a maximum of $25mill per roll over. So the most it will go up to is $202mill.Its on the powerball web-site under rules and regulations.(b) The prize pool percentage allocated to the set prizes (the cash priz

fee-only cpa or not
I've given the same problem a lot of thought research in the dvent that someday I might win a major jackpot. In my case, other than setting up a blind trust to collect my winnings, I don't want to pay anyone to manage my money. Here's my plan: Say, I realize a lump sum of $10-million after taxes.First, I would ladder $5-million into CDARS. (Special CD arrangment). Second, I would buy myself $3-million in various annunities. Third, I would drop about $1-million into land and my own private

taxessss and the lottery
Babel,It's kinda like those women on the Oprah show that were given those free $28,000 cars. The government looks as those cars as additional income not as a gift from the family, so they will have their taxable income increased by $28,000 and if that put them in the 25% tax bracket, they will owe $7,000 in additional taxes. If they were earning $20K per year, they are going to now pay taxes as if they earned $48K per year, so some of them are selling their cars to pay the taxes. They didn't

How magic do people expect wheels to be?
The problem is that you have to pick the correct 6 numbers in the 12 you used in the wheel. The chance of that happening, multiplied by the chances of the wheel turn out to be exactly the same as using 6 quick picks. That's what serchad above was asking about. If you leave off where BobP left off, and if you don't understand the math behind picking 12 numbers and having the 6 drawn numbers be in them, you might be led to believe you have some magic advantage. You do not, and the con artists cou
