To all Lottery Post-ers:
People... I never said people should be forced to choose annuity. Again, Cash Boy is only assuming things. What else is new? What really is a real lottery player? I thought a lottery player is one who pays the money to play the game. So, am I a fake lottery player? My motives for this forum is pretty simple.... Telling people who can't decide between annuity and lump sum that ANNUITY IS GREAT!

Annuity Speaks
Wow, I must say that it's been a hectic day. I joined the forum today and it seems like I might have stirred some comotion by throwing out my thoughts. What a first day.Tonite, I did not win the MM lottery. I purchased 2 tickets, one QP and the other a Natural Selection. I chose Annuity option.Cash Only, I really don't care if you're an advocate of LumpSum nor do I really care that your sexual preference is guys only. It has nothing to do with me. CASH,Although I prefer the lump sum, I must say that on a few occasions I chose Annuity Option for the PA Super 6 (before Powerball was offered here). The main reason was to extend the excitement for a few more minutes. For example...if I bought CASH OPTION only tickets and the winner (as posted on the PA Lottery website) was an Annuity ticket, then I knew I didn't win. So sometimes I would buy 1 Annuity ticket and the rest Cash just to keep the excitement going.

AnnuityIsGreat,Wouldn't you recommend taking a lump sum and then using that money to invest in Annuities? That way you could control your own money as opposed to being locked into the Lottery's annuity? After all, I see commercials all the time about companies that will pay you cash for the rest of a lottery annuity. Seems to me that those commercials are geared towards people who did not put their money away safely even though they had an annuity. Now you asked for a real example. So let's go wit

Hello My Fellow Lotto Players
Quote: Originally posted by AnnuityIsGreat on January 17, 2003Thomas,When one takes annuity, the tax rate for your yearly winning flow is a lot lower than taking the lump sum. Trust me on this! 39.6% is not a maximum rate on everything you make. Lotto winnings and short term capital gain max out at 28% pending on your income level. Long term capital gain is less.Once you take lump sum, you immediatly have to pay all the taxes upfront.Think annuity as like your 401K or pension payouts... there
