My brother won 35 million
Wait a minute, The person who started this thread just made up this story about $35 million for a school project. Is that true? Did she just make it up for a school project? Are you serious? She had all these people arguing over something that didn't happen?!?!?! Anyway, the point that I was trying to make in my post is still the same as always and still can be applied in your life should you ever win a lottery jackpot: If you can remain anonymous, stay anonymous !!!!

Okla. lawmaker aims to stop lottery winners from staying anonymous
An Oklahoma state senator from Edmond plans to introduce legislation to prohibit people from forming anonymous trusts after learning they have won a lottery prize. Sen. Clark Jolley, R-Edmond, said this proposed legislation stems from instances including one this week where a trust claimed a lottery prize. We were told the lottery would be open, it would be transparent full accountability. We would know the name and towns of everyone who had won, Jolley said. I think winners being a

Nominations for best 2006 LP post
So if they went to court to protect their right to remain anonymous, and won, they in effect would become famous for winning their case to remain anonymous . Coin Toss, OK...that one's up for nomination! I have an analogous one in mind but it would fritter away inestimable time to emplace it and I cogitate with dubiety about the validity of mulitudinous appointments so I will defer to others in their elections.

Why It Is Important to Remain Anonymous.
Yeah, I agree with CalifDude... checking with state would be first thing to do. I know certain state allows winner to remain anonymous, but most of states require your Name to be on public. I have heard of certain state allows blind trust like so many winners in Ohio as loophole, but again, most states (like Calif, Nevada or Arizona) won't even allow that. So if you're thinking about remaining anonymous when you win, time to move or something

If you hit the jackpot
It all depends on how much was won. Many midrange winners at under the $20 million mark are anonymous simply because it's not news. If, and that's a really big if, Mega breaks 400 and a single person wins you can forget trying to hide who you are. Same with someone winning a record Euromillions pot if it matches the old level and a single ticket wins. Any winner at the 400+ level can kiss being anonymous goodbye. Anonyminity through obscurity is always the best.

Food for thought regarding anonymity....
Well, that is indeed good news! I guess since there were so many years that I didn't play and since then have played just erratically until recently, I totally missed any news of anonymous winners. I started going through the lists of winners on the Washington State website, but with all those smaller prizes listed, there are pages and pages of them, so I quit. I'll just take your word for it. Now I may be able to revise my thinking of what I'd do if I should win big. But there is one

Food for thought regarding anonymity....
I wish I could edit or clear my last post, since I just read a press release where PB winners won $85 million and stayed anonymous by having their lawyer claim it. So I don't understand all of the published rules on the NH website! Congratulations to our newest Powerball winners! said Rick Wisler, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. While we do enjoy the ability to meet our winners and help them announce their good fortune, we can respect the winners desire to remain anonym

Did you see the Delaware Multi-Win results?
Unfortunately, the thing we all hail with Delaware (anonymous winners) is the very thing that made us not trust the results of the last old Delaware Lotto drawing. All I can say is that the only game I buy in Delaware right now is Powerball. Despite having anonymous winners for Powerball too, this is a small state and eventually it gets out at the very least where the winner is (ie: when 33 people from a factory in Seaford split the jackpot, the names were never published but eventually you had

Would u try to remain anonymous?
Remaining anonymous will be very hard I think. There is no point in fighting it. Also, when there is a jackpot winner, I eagerly wait for the press conference because I want to know more about the person that won(I know its none of my business but would be nice to know). It just calms my disappointment at not winning it myself. It puts a face behind the winning ticket and gives me hope that maybe someday that will be me. It would only be hypocritical of me to try to remain anonymous whe

Lotto winner's ex-wife fights back
Regarding a Blind Trust, I can't say anything about Canadian law, but most states here (except Delaware I think) will not allow the winner to remain anonymous. Even the Trusts and LLCs that are formed will always list each member for the record. I'm not saying I agree at all with that, since I'd want to be completely anonymous. However, there are a lot of greedy creeps who would let their children go hungry. I read recently that a lot of unpaid child support has been collected from lottery winni
