What Should Your State Do To Improve The Lottery?
I would like to see fairer payouts for smaller prizes in games like Powerball, Mega Millions, Win for Life, etc. In Mega Millions, the prize for matching 3 + 1 is $150, but the odds are over 1 in 10,000. Completely unfair payout. I think it should be at least $2500. I would like to see more states have date lotteries (i.e. you play a date, like Nebraska's MyDaY or Quebec's Astro). Part of the reason I like the Pick-3 and Pick-4 is because there are certain combinations that come up that repre

Study: Hoosier Lottery has worst financial decline in USA
Another state with computerized drawings fares poorly Has Indiana considered boldly changing back to real drawings? Proceeds from Indiana's lottery were down by more than 17 percent in the past fiscal year, marking the sharpest decline in profits nationwide. Hoosier Lottery proceeds fell by nearly $40 million. The state's profit from scratch-off tickets, Powerball and other lottery games dropped from $217 million in the 2008 fiscal year to $178 million in fiscal year that ended June 30.

Tennesee cash 3 cash 4 lotto plus pick 5 Rate it!
There's only one way to prove that Tennessee's payouts are worse now than they were before they switched to computerized drawings and that is to go to their web site and get a calculator and tally up all the payout's for a year. Then check the total with 2008 Hence i already did this a few months ago but i only did a few months worth of totals. I found the average payout's for pick 3 to be on average about the same or within 20 thousand dollars more or less. My deduction is that

Neb. lottery numbers drawn twice in row
I personally think when computerized drawings are involved, you can't use regular mathematical odds. It really depends on what kind of RNG the computer is using. With computers that use the decay of radioactive material as their basis for the random numbers, then I feel like it is sufficiently random, the odds are probably a good measure. (Although nothing makes me feel that computers should be used for ANY lottery drawing they are too susceptible to hacking or errors, thereby bypassing th

Texas Lottery confirms that Quick Picks are not generated by "central computer"
There was another thread in which the subject of Quick Picks was being discussed, and that it was strongly asserted that a central computer generates the random ticket numbers. The theory of a central computer generating the random numbers is an important element of critics' theories that the lottery controls the outcome of the games. After all, if the Quick Picks (which account for some 70% of all sales) were not generated or manipulated by a central computer, then how in the world could

How to Prove Your Lottery IS Fixed?
Ask the lottery about 1, 2, and 3. I don't know what the exact numbers are, but since you're posting you must have a computer. That and a software program are all they need for computerized drawings. My machine was a moderatley high end machine when I got it and it cost a hair over $1000 about 2 years ago. Since the demands of generating random numbers isn't getting any higher there's no reason a $1000 machine shouldn't last for years. You can't even come close to buying one set of balls for tha

Pennsylvania Lottery's new Quinto game starts tomorrow
It's different, not silly. Massachusetts has a Pick 4 game that can be played like Pick 3. That game's not silly either. A Powerball combination is drawn once in every some-odd million years. Why do you care that 99.9% of the Powerball combinations will never be drawn in its lifetime, yet for Quinto, which has a somewhat shorter time to achieve the same thing, it is looked as a negative thing? For your computerized question, yes, that's what I said. Now there's an area I'll be agreeing

Contract controversy reveals D.C. Lottery's tangled roots
It always surprises me when I see a good story like this one not getting a lot of feedback. When you're complaining about having computerized drawings, or the wrong games in your state, or the employee bonuses are too large, this kind of thing is where it all originates! It is very important to understand about who is running the lottery, what their motivations are, what company is operating the games, what they will try to push on the lottery, etc. If there is corruption in the lottery, p

Lotto pet peeves (with vendors & other players)
Wow! Where do I start? I guess the one thing that annoys me more than any other would be people who are simply too lazy, too busy or too self-important to check their own tickets for winning numbers. The way I see it, the object of the game is to match three or more numbers in order to win a cash prize, so asking someone else to tell you if you've won anything is like asking the dealer if you should hit 18. Next on my list would be the dishonest cashiers who take advantage of those ment
