Curse of the Lottery
The curse is publicity! Here in NSW, the lottery advises winners to consider who they tell about their win; as once you tell people you can't un-tell later. Also, here in Australia, winners are automatically entitled to anonymity, and very few choose publicity. Winning a jackpot can change your life by giving you financial security, ar at least a very nice start. Publicity of a lottery win can lead to a lot of problems, unless you are strong enough to so 'NO'!

Help for dead cat in a box dream
Earlier today, I dreamt that I was in my office and the security officer walked in with a dead striped cat in a box. He showed it to me and I woke up.

$237 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot raised again
That's similar to why I'd want to win, but add having complete financial security and no need to ever work again . Part of me wants to collect the winnings myself to see if I could handle the money and dealing with all the people coming out of the woodwork. I already have ideas as to what I would do to keep myself busy during the days and nights, I just need to win and put those ideas into action. I think I'd make a pretty good and successful winner, it'd be nice to get the chance to prove that.

She should have got a good lawyer, and got him the claim the money for her anonymously. When I read she was accompanied by friends , I think that spells trouble. I hope she has her wits about her, as she is 64, this is her last change for financial security. Don't blow it lady!

Substantial interface changes to Lottery Post
Yes, if you only knew what I've been going through to keep the site up this week, you'd be amazed. I have been struggling not only to cope with the changes that have been installed on the site this week, but also with some massive security holes that were discovered this past weekend in the Microsoft technology that drives the site. There's just one person (me) who is trying to deal with all of these things simultaneously. I wish I had a big budget and IT staff to help out, but I don't.

How would you get to the Lotto office?
Good topic...
I've gone to the MD State Lottery central office a couple of times and seen people who have gone to collect, drag along several people with them. Those that accompany the winners can certainly give away the fact that they are with a WINNER. I guess the winners may believe there is safety in numbers, meaning having others along with them. But this gives out too much information. The Montgomery Park location has other businesses in it, but the place has a big security force around

A present to family that says if I win powerball, I'll give you X%. Does that work?
If you fill out a IRS form 5754 with your family members names, social security numbers and their share of the jackpot before you make a claim, they will be treated as members of a lottery pool , get a W-2G and be responsible for any taxes owed on their share of the jackpot.
