Powerball multi-state lottery game to change rules
This:
The number of white balls will increase from 55 to 59 while the numberof red balls will decrease from 42 to 39. The odds of winning thejackpot will be increased to one in 195.2 million while the overallodds of winning any prize will be dropped to one in 35.1.
is insanity.
We have a friend who just couldn't wait for California to join Mega Millions. He bought all the news hype about potential $500,000,000 jackpots. So California joined in, the matrix expanded, and now the same

the "EZMONEY" poll
I would agree with you, except I look at this as entertainment. I hope to be much busier in the near future, since I'm definitely NOT hitting any jackpots. I also enjoy debating about the more philosophical matters like envy greed. There are some great people on LP and, yes, the board is a microcosm of society as a whole. The good, the bad and the way out there!
I don't think talking about the possibility of a member winning the PB is the same as watching Anna Nicole, Paris or Britney or whoe

I Won A $86Million Annuity
Sounds like some leeches want to kiss his butt regardless of his poor attitude. Sorry I don't work that way. I DO blame him for posting such an idiotic and arrogant post. I am only negative to those who deserve it. If I won I would not boast in that manner, but in a respectful and graceful manner because I actually have integrity. This guy sounds like a 10-year old kid, and no there there is no excuse for that. I am sure Todd does not care though either way, so as long as LP is mentioned. No mar

your favorite lottery game and why is that game your favorite?
It was a coin toss for me between pick-4 and the 5/39 Rolling Cash 5 game. I chose the former because I did hit it straight a few times but I was betting more than $5 a drawing. RC-5 pays $1 for matching 2 numbers and Fantasy 5 gets a free ticket so at least we're getting something back on our bet and over time that reduces the cost of play trying to catch the next jackpot.
Pick-4 games pay nothing for matching some of the digits or for matching the first 3 digits straight unless we bet more

Man throws away winning lottery ticket, but still collects
Wow, $70M annually is a lot. I forget how much the annual total for FL is, but there have been several very large unclaimed jackpots. The largest single ticket that was never claimed was for $53.7 million.
I agree with Todd about the handling of the situation and am happy to read that the NY Lottery did the right thing. I wonder if this man was in shock when he threw away his ticket. I wouldn't go near a trash can after winning a jackpot either. But I check my numbers at home anyway. I'd be

Curious about rules on selling lotto tickets
There should be no problem playing and winning your state lottery as much as you would like. The only exception would be if you were an insider or cheating the lottery by manipulating the outcome from within (for example if you worked for the lottery and modified the computer program).
Las Vegas is different than state lotteries. For example, with blackjack there are systems that give the player an advantage, such as card counting, and consistent winners suspected of card counting are bann

Ohio winner of $196M lottery jackpot claims prize anonymously
The next advertised Mega Millions jackpot is $43 million and the cash value is $25.9 million.
This (the $25.9 million cash value) represents the sum of the first annuity installment, plus the current market value of government securities required to fund the remaining 25 installments, as of 6/27/2008 at 10:45am
Simply put the advertised or estimated jackpot is the amount the winner will eventually get if they take the annuity jackpot and the cash value is the amount it costs to fund the

Why I think quick picks suck
Nobody is crying, that is pure conjecture on your part CT, the irony is that QP's both suque and blow at the same time. I accept the loss of my wager happily, knowingly, with no expectation to hit with a QP or hand pick, for that matter.
People who advocate that QP's are The Way are just leaving it to fate, they are uninvolved in the chosen wager (other than being in it, key), more power to them and they probably just don't have the time to mess with it. I betcha' you one thing, though, all
