Why it is important to remain anonymous
I feel the same way about anonymity after a lottery win that I do about my own privacy now. It's none of anyone's business how I earn my money, as long as it's legal and I pay my taxes. The toughest thing for me would be living a simple life and buying a home, being part of a community, etc. without my neighbors learning of my good fortune. I have no desire to live in an expensive home or upscale neighborhood. BTW, a man on Marco Island (very close to where I live) won $14 million and stayed

After alleged lottery ticket theft, store banned from ticket sales
That's what I was saying in my above post, RJOh. The whole story sounds a bit fishy to me. By the way, I saw Judge Judy on Larry King a couple of times and was very impressed with her, although I really haven't followed her tv show.
On another subject, it's interesting that you brought up Judge Judy. We're always talking about what it would be like to be wealthy famous after winning the lottery. According to Forbes, Judge Judy earned $28 million in 2005 (and I'm not including the i

Have u ever heard of anything crazy like this...
The $500 he won was found money, so how is turning it around on more lottery tickest any different than blowing it on something else? If he plays a couple of bucks a day on numbers he'll spend about $700 a year and he can expect to winback $500 every year and a half. Using that $500 to play PB or MM when it's really high is a better strategy than spending $5 on each draw regardless of what the jackpot is. Yeah, the odds are still extremely high that he's just throwing it away, but they're sti

Breaking Las Vegas: Could it happen to the lotto..
Pumpi: They show how 2 physic students in the 80's or 70's (don't remember) decided to break las Vegas...I've never seen such intelligence put into a goal...
The book Eudaemonic Pie describes how they clocked the speed of the wheel, the speed of the ball and their shoe computers calculated the probable quadrant the ball would fall into.
It could be done without the aide of a computer if a person had a good memory and didn't get dizzy watching the wheel spinning and trying to pick out

One year later, Powerball still treats them well
Now, that's what I like, success stories like theirs. Sometimes, after reading all of those horror stories of those who burn through their winnings and end up miserable sometimes make you stop and think, is it really worth it to win a really large jackpot?
I feel that I will be a pretty level headed winner. I don't aspire to be a famous or publicly noted person.
Good examples like thesewill keep me playing the big jackpots.
Congrats again to those winners.

'Lucky guy' sells ticket that wins half of $42 mllion Lotto jackpot
KY Floyd, as long as there is a video of whoever sells the ticket, I suppose it wouldn't matter if a bonus was paid, but it might open up a big can of worms, IMHO. Anyway, it has no effect on me, so I don't care. I think it would be wonderful if store owner decided to share his good fortune should he receive a bonus from the lottery.
Regarding the time or date a ticket is sold, I agree that this information should not be revealed, but the place of purchase is always listed immediately. Whe

Match 6 $4,950,000 CASH!
I live a short distance from the PA border, but the only thing I ever buy is Powerball.
The Match 6 is possibly the worst on line lottery game I have ever seen, and I've played lotteries in lots of states, having once travelled for a living. The winning numbers are unnecessarily confusing. One cannot choose the full set of numbers oneself (this was also true of their 6/69 game where the computer picked 2 lines) and the payouts are low.
I used to play the 6/69 when the jackpots got larg

what do you see happening with the lottery in the next five years?
Definitely more states will go to RNG drawings. Also, more and more states will be looking to sell their lottery programs to private companies, since the free-spending politicians can't seem to live within a budget, and they want to dig into every niche and cranny they can to dig up money to cover their own failures.
Size of jackpots? Who knows what they may grow to...
No national lottery. It would dilute the money received by the individual states, and there are too many partisan interes

Protect Your System
LckyLary,
If you are continually changing how you pick your combinations then you don't have a system , at best you're trying to find something that works.
I find that systems are unique to particular lotteries. I've had some minor success with Ohio RC5 and tried to use those same techniques with PB and MM and it doesn't work. This could be a result of the differences in odds of winning these games but likewise when I've had some minor success with PB, the same thing doesn't work with

Lottery mega-jackpots generating less 'buzz'
At first I was going to agree that people give up and are sick of losing. It makes sense, since the odds are so high. That was actually my first thought about many players and might be valid, but not for a large percentage of people. People who play mega jackpot games obviously know there's a slim chance they'll win, but it only takes 1 ticket. I'm also sick of losing for the past 30 years, but that doesn't stop me from buying tickets for Lotto twice a week. Of course, I admit I am totally ad
