Florida Lotto
Thanks, Floridian for your confidence in me. But I really don't keep up with the politics...I just want to win! LOL I see the signs all the time that say $16 Billion to Florida Schools and FL Law requires the lottery to pay out 50% in prizes. It's pari-mutual so often the prize is more than advertised. You are correct about the payout. I've seen Lotto pay higher than 60% but it averages 54-58%. The MegaMoney, which is a 20 year annuity, usually pays more than 60% as the lump sum and I've

IL LL subscription winner
I usually check the IL website winners page to see how many people won and where the tickets were sold. They also note how many subscription winners there were. For those not familiar with subscription playing, you can send the lottery a check for 3, 6, or 12 months play on your picks. Smaller prizes are accumulated during that period and you receive a check at the end of it. 4 of 5 and jackpots are paid right away. I have never seen a subscription winner win the jackpot. Last night

Could Criss Angel win Powerball??
I agree that anyone with a single ticket can win a lottery; whether they're a magician or not. What really impresses me is that couple from Belmont, California who won both the $126,000 Fantasy Five jackpot and the $17 Million Dollar SuperLottoPlus with their own numbers ... winning both jackpots on the same day! (Nov 20, 2002 drawing) superlottoplus 7,10,21,41,47 +mega4 fantasyfive 15,18,26,35,37 now that's real magic!

Mega Millions lottery jackpot won ... again
Ouch, now I'm a whiner Well just take off that h and add an n and I'm set. The problem isn't that the jackpot is won at a low level or that 12 million isn't a large amount of money. If the WA state lotto hit 12 million I would get tickets right away. The odds on winning lotto are only 1:7 million though. For a game with the highest odds of any game created, the jackpots are pretty low and seem to be staying that way. Only time will tell if this is a strange slump or the future of

Promoting more lottery play
4. Games that are easier to win. Bingo. That would be my #1 from your list. There was a thread before about making a lottery game wider , i.e., more winners, and not just at the chump change prize levels, either. As for advertising, I don't think lotteries need to advertise anymore. In fact, going back to the above, more winners would be the best advertising they could do. But instead, most of them go the other way - a la PB and MM, and expand matrixes and make it harder to hit

Mega Millions hit again!
Seems the ball is in the player's court, but probably not for long. The house always wins, so, it won't be long before players will be moaning and groaning about not winning. and the states will be laughing all the way to the bank, as they always do. The MM lottery uses a mechanical drawing machine. I doubt they can routinely arrange an advantage for themselves by getting the balls to fall in ways that would produce combinations not sold for a particular drawing. If they could, I doubt the

Odds 101
Stack47 All too true about players. Bad beat stories, too. My point comparing Caribbean Sttud was about people chasing a Royal being dealt to them for a jackpot that pays much, much less than it should pay. I'm sure people have blown paychecks chasing lotto jackpots but I think there's more likely to be players doing that with casino games. just6ntlc I would say inter-galactic!

Poll - PB & MM vs a National Lottery
cps10: The states already get a cut in the form of grants, supplements, income taxes from Fed employee taxes, roads, police and police equipment, prisoners from mandatory sentencing laws, Homeland Security, Social Security incomes, all manner of pieces of Federal largess, aid to the arts, University grants, Federal officers. The states can get their cut from in-state lotteries. I'm digging in my heels on this. I ain't letting no state force its way up to the trough to swill out of no F

great results for pick 5
PencilMan, Your system seems to be designed for the Texas pari-mutuel 5/37 game in which a match4 pays real good if nobody gets a matche5, but the jackpots hardly ever goes over $35K. Ohio has a fixed payout that pays $1 for a match2, $10 for a macth3, $300 for match4 and a jackpot that starts at $100K and rolls until it's won so a similar strategy might not work as well there. Tonight's jackpot rolled to $317K, so it's likely to be won tomorrow. derek7, Seems like every state design

what would happen if...............
The answer was simple, but it's an interesting question Mike. I'd wondered the same thing for a long time and never thought to ask. Every day someone has to update all those results, post the jackpots, analyse the predictions and results against one another and post the updates for the Yesterday Winners and Top Predictors. Fact is, I've wondered how the hell Todd keeps up with it. Jack
