Record Powerball lottery won by one Nebraskan
Good grief! Look at the time on that ticket. (Well one of them any way.) 7:02 AM! One things for sure...the Nebraska Lottery sure didn't waste any time validating that sale. OK...now for the not so fun stuff: Someone is looking at video tape from the store trying to figure out who bought the ticket? Who? The Nebraska Lottery? Why? They already know the ticket was bought there. The Convenience Store people? Why? So they can mooch money from the winners? The Press? Why? So they

Visualizing numbers?
I was reading your posts yesterday on projecting the numbers. But since I have never been able to do this, I didn't post any replies. Strange thing happened. I did project last night. Let's see if they were right. If someone wins one of the jackpots this weekend. You'll know what really happened. If freaked me out too... it wasn't a nice dream. I saw the playslips with the numbers and some other disturbing images within the numbers I do not care to discuss. I am almost afraid t

What size yacht
All this talk about big jackpots, yachts and hired security guards has got me thinking. I wonder how much it would cost to buy an old mothballed battleship from the U.S. Navy? I think the U.S.S Iowa is available. Man! I can almost see myself now: Anchors aweigh! Stand by to cast off! Heave too on the port side! Full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes! I'll never give up the ship! Arrrrrgggghhh Jim lad...arrrrrgggghhh! Jim

Powerball lottery jackpot reaches $250 million
Don't ask why I was on the CT lottery web site, because I don't know...just surfing. Anyway, it was interesting to read in their PB section that when jackpots reach $100M they authorize high traffic retailers to enforce their own House Rules including selling only QPs and limiting the tickets to 100 per customer. A winner also only has 60 days to decide how he wants to claim the prize and their 30 year graduated annuity looks like a total rip-off the way they show it, paying less than $2M for

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
Qualatively, without too much analysis, sales for MM seemed relatively unaffected by the large CA jackpot. CA often exceeds NY sales, but NY seems to have contributed the most to MM sales in general. There doesn't seem to have been much of a change, which is somewhat surprising. According to my records there have been more than one winner only twice in the since switching from the Big Game to Megamillions. On 11/11/03 there were 3 winners of a $70M annuity jackpot and 2 winners of a

Proposal takes aim at Lottery sales pitch to teens
Agree 100%. I don't like to see anyone 18 or 38 killed in action, but if a young man or woman can defend our country, they should have the right to drink, vote, gamble and sign a contract. I actually don't like any type of lottery advertising or hype. I realize why they do it, but most people who are serious about playing already know there is a lottery in their state and what the jackpots are. I'd rather see the money for advertising going into the pockets of the winners, but that's not goin

when do you guys play?
I'm in a pool at work for Powerball and Louisiana Lotto. There are 6 of us in it and every payday, we put up $4/each and buy 2 Lotto and 3 Powerball tickets for the next 4 drawings. We've won a few small prizes here and there, but nothing big, yet. I play Louisiana Lotto myself, buying a ticket for every drawing. The prizes are smaller but the odds are better. With a minimum jackpot of $250,000, I could pay off all my debts, including my house, mortgage, etc. and be in a good position.

Why GA-KY-VA Lose for Life will flop
I don't play annuity only games myself, but one hears all the time of people who do so. Not everyone who plays the lottery is a responsible person. Some people like annuities and some people need annuities to give them time to adjust to having money. Lotteries are only interested in sales. If their product sells they continue it. If it doesn't, they drop it or change it. If you feel that your concerns outweigh those of everyone else on the planet, I suggest you take a different tack:

Im I too addicted?
It's not always how much a person spends that can be a problem, but why he/she spends it. We all have hopes of winning, but the big jackpots are games of chance and have great odds. That money should never be something we depend on. It might change your life forever, but it also might never happen. I hope everyone here will be very lucky someday. At the same time we have to tell ourselves the truth is one can spend $200 a week for 80 years and never win a huge PB or MM jackpot or even a State Lo

slot machines...need advice
Play machines that can be easily seen, i.e., out in the open, near snack bars and the bar, near wide isles and near cashier's cages. The logic is that casino's strategically place loose machines so they can be seen hitting either a lot or large hits to motivate other's to get back on the gaming floor. There a two different types of machines, low hit/high payout or high hit/low payout. On the former, you could go through extended cycles of little or no hits, and then, wham! A good example wo
