El Gordo now available - Drawing Dec. 22
There are kids who actually sing the winning numbers. Everyone in the country of Spain watches the live broadcast on TV. It is the biggest event all year (no kidding).

Entire town, except one guy, wins $950M lottery
Yes you can take a trip to spain if you want but remember you are 100 times more likely to be thrown over the fence by a crazy spanish bull so don't say I didn't tell you so.lol

Entire town, except one guy, wins $950M lottery
They have this drawing every year i'm assuming i wonder if i were to take a trip to spain next year just to purchase some tickets. I know they will never do anything close to this with the powerball because the us is so greedy with their lottery their should be more winners when the jackpot reaches a certain amount.

America should have a 'The Fat One'
I am not talking about a federal lottery, I am talking state lotteries getting together and organizing a 'Fat One' lottery for next Christmas. It would be as popular in the US as it is in Spain. Also, state governments could do with the extra revenue.

My uncle lives in spain and my mother wonders if he plays the lottery. That is a nice prize for first place or even the runner up prize is nice too.-weshar75

Help for my 6/49 game, from clever lottery post members
Welcome to LP.
I too have been chasing the jackpots of our local 6/49 game, Classic Lotto and like you I've only matched 3 occasionally. However I've only play 15-20 lines per drawing and tried to cover most of the 49 numbers.
I've found that more than half the times, our winning numbers have come up in the previous 20 drawings, add up to a sum of 86-222 with a range of 18-49. I don't know if this is typical of 6/49 games around the world but some games take on a character of its own regar

Spanish lottery player wins €123M Euro Millions jackpot
Congratulations!!! I have a feeling that the winner is an American who bought this sole jackpot winning ticket last week from snip above link; with their agent purchasing the ticket, on their behalf, at a retailer in Spain.
If this is correct, does anybody know the jackpot percentage that snip will keep as their share ? Also, does anyone know if the American winner will have to pay more than the U.S.A. Federal's max Income Tax rate of 35% plus their max hometown/resident State Income Tax rate

Lottery winner flees Spain penniless as bank seizes villa and bar
This guy had some bad things happen in his life which some could probably been avoided if he'd claimed it quietly without going public. But I don't really buy into Lottery Curses and ascribe every BAD event in someone's life to winning a jackpot. It seems some sound financial advice should be sought by these people....Maybe I don't know much about how much things cost in Europe but seems trying to retire and buy a villa in Spain was a little much with a jackpot of ($8million). Perhaps he overest
