If you feel your brother is sending you a message to play the lottery, what does it matter if you choose the numbers or if you just do a quick pick? If it was meant to be, it will happen regardless, right? I often read that winners feel some particular urge to play the lottery that day and won, but then again, there are surely a lot of people who felt an urge and lost, too. In any event, I am sorry about your brother and his daughter growing up without knowing her dad.

This sounds like the NJ Cash for Life. Article mentions 15 states but assume it's a different game since the names are different. Good feature is that the prize money will go to the winner's estate ,in the event they expire before the 20 years payout annuity.

I started the day with modest expectations. I bought one $200,000 a year for life ticket and won $25. I decided to use the winnings to buy one of the new $25 tickets. I was initially not too happy because the clerk just picked up the ticket from the counter and not from the roll (which always makes me a little suspicious). In any event, this was the result: At least I am finally ahead on this game...not by much, but still in the positive.

Yep, they usually set up at Alive After Five ( a weekly music event) and they have a booth at the yearly home shows. I've never heard that scratchers sold there win more often though. Maybe I'll try next time I see one.

Interesting question, part of me thinks it has to do with quantum theory (ala Schrodinger's cat) and the actual observation of the event (winning number vs. non-winning number). That's the part of me that tends to over-think things. The other part of me feels like 'whatever works dude!' My daughter and grandaughter were involved in a car accident this morning on their way to school . A elderly man went straight into my grandaughters side . She was in her booster seat secured but the impact caused her to hit her head and nose .
