Question about lottery groups
You should check with your state lottery, up until a few years ago many states would only make out a single check to one person in a lottery pool/group and the group worked out the details of taxes and etc. Now states have a form that can be filled out with the names and SS# of each person in the pool/group with their share of the winnings and each will be given an individual check and W-2G so they are taxed individually. Dividing a group into other groups will require more work and probably som

Canada couple loses out on $1.64M jackpot
agree w/ the judge's dicision, but don't like her attitude, she said the 21 participants did't earn the money, well maybe they did't use hammers, shovels trucks, but they used their $ earned somehow and risked them on this game, the plantiff did not.i went fishing on party boat today where everyone on board has the option of joining the betting pool, $5 ea. the guy next to me declined,he caught the biggest doormat ,the angler w/ 2nd biggest flattie won the pool.

I have a question about when a group of co-worker hit a jacpot game
Use to be most states would only pay one person in a pool and send him a W-2G for the taxes. It was a real concession to allow each pool member to get his own check and W-2G for taxes.

SmartLuck Sw - Taking a Gamble - Pick 4/5
Depends on how many numbers are in the total number pool and the payout you'd get at 4 of 5. For example if there are less than 40 numbers in the pool and the payout is greater than $385 for 4 of 5 then it may be worth it.

20 N.Y. Costco workers share $202M Powerball lottery jackpot
I think the odds of a group winning versus an individual depends on how the lottery pool itself is organized and I doubt that many lottery pools/groups are organized the same. Some pools will have everyone pitch in a dollar and buy a ticket for each dollar in the pool for that game or they'll donate only 50 cents or whatnot ir they'll collect loose change and whatnot and only buy the tickets when the jackpot gets high enough...etc, etc

$200M Powerball lottery jackpot won by N.Y. Costco workers
Actually, the amount of lottery jackpots won by single players completely eclipses thoses won by pools. If one were to apply your simplistic logic, one would conclude that it would be foolish to play in a pool. More foolish still would be to play in a pool arranged over the Internet.

$200 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot heats up
Good point. Our pool at work won $103 on PB last night. I never play powerplay when I buy tics for the pool....but there's 10 of us and we each kick in a dollar for each draw. But when I buy my own tics, I usually only play one line, or once in a while 2 lines, and I always play powerplay/megaply.

Using a "same pool" system for Pick 3
9 16 25 is acting as a set in the pretend Pick 3/30 game. In other words, instead of just using 854 in the history of that game, 9 16 25 can be used as well if you're using a system that looks at sets instead of combo's. However, I myself am still storing past results in a file in their original Pick 3 form. It's a lot easier and faster for me to type 854 in a text editor than it is 09 16 25 . I do all the conversions inside the program itself. There's a function that converts a Pick 3 digit in
