South Carolina lottery winner where are you? $1.5B still unclaimed, and clock is ticking
but all of the posts by people saying that some set of numbers is bad or can't win is evidence about stupid people playing the lottery. Wow that's something I've always thought but never said because it might not be appropriate to say or not politically correct. I understand that if someone bought 100 tickets, it can be stated the chance of winning is about 1 in 3 million and understand they are assuming 289 million combinations magically disappear, but debating how good bad their actual ch

My instant ticket rant.
If I may join this rant, what drives me nuts is when the retailer of a high volume store has no interest in engaging in any conversation about anything regarding the games. Any games. Its not that is busy at the time, there is a noticeable disregard for the lottery buyer, wasting his/her money and thinking there is any better odds with any particular scratch game. I had asked if the 30 dollar scratcher offers any better odds at any bigger prizes than a two dollar one. I see guys buy multiple 20

SC officials getting nervous that $1.5 billion Mega Millions winner won't claim prize
If this massive prize does go unclaimed (not surprising given how many people buy tickets and then lose them or throw them in the trash), returning the money to the state governments makes this game even MORE of a bad deal for players. The state already gets a huge cut of the wager... about 50%. Keeping all the unclaimed prizes is basically double-dipping. A more fair way to run a lottery is to put unclaimed prizes back into the jackpot. You wouldn't want to do this all at once, instead ad

Michigan lawmaker pushes bill to deduct cash from paycheck for lotto game
maximum $26 deducted from their paychecks each year It costs $208 to play every MM or PB drawing a year and $416 playing both. And I'm pretty sure most people play those games so they quit their job. Because jackpots in his game expected to top out at around $10,000, he says, winnings are low, so nobody is quitting their jobs over it. I'm pretty sure nobody would consider quitting the after pocketing around $7000! And players can't do much gambling on 50 cent a week. has no plans to

Some players unhappy with UK Lotto game changes
We want lots of people to play a little, rather than a few playing a lot, it's our guiding principle. Ask yourself why is that? Maybe because the the ones that play a little are the players that only buy a few tickets when the jackpots are super high. Or who only play QP's rather than their own numbers on the smaller games, and have zero knowledge about lotteries in general. They are probably looked at as, a fool and his money are soon parted ... Ie, big bucks for them. While the few

Eastern Shore Virginia
with the scratch tickets i use to believe when those same faces in store said the last tickets on the roll are usually winners buy the the last ticket or the hold roll. I believe this for over 17 years back and forth. This small areas use to think its base on population for million dollars jackpots. Its another network to get the life changing scratch tickets On purpose not send it to certain areas the scratch ticket. some say you wonot know unless you buy them not true A

Mega is $45 mil & Powerball is $40 mil. Will you be in it?
Ugh. I was in a good mood the other day and thought I'd pick up a couple of tickets. They had delivered a new and improved terminal scanner, etc. You wd think that if they were going to drop off new equipment take the old they could have had someone connect it but noooooo. So, the next day I ask if they are selling tickets he said sure. But he couldnt get the machine to work. In his defense, it did look complicated. No more pushing an icon that looks like the game you want the # of tickets.

$868 MILLION: Mega lottery jackpot set for Friday
The reason there hasn't been a winner yet is because we as a country spent $210,196,810 on that draw. Assuming that like 100% of the tickets were $2 that would mean that about 105 million tickets were bought which isn't enough to have bought every single ticket. What's more is the fact that if each state uses a bank thats independent of another meaning that in NY there could be 15 million tickets that were bought all with different combinations while in Rhode island there were 500k but each of t

MegaMillions $367,000,000.00
It will be shared by numerous other tickets. Even with 635 million tickets in play the chance of more than 2 winners is only 37%, with one or town winners having a probability of 24.7 and 26.9%. That's for PB, so for MM it's even more likely to have just 1 or 2 winning tickets for any given number of tickets in play. Even with 3 winners, the individual pre-tax net for the record jackpot was still more than the per ticket prize of all but 5 jackpots. The sweet spot for maximum net is probabl

Mega Millions $252,000,000.00
Coin Toss, Thank You. A State's Lottery MIGHT go belly up. Annuities may not be adjusted for inflation. I calculated the percentage rate increase from the first year to the second check and it is about 4.7%. There are no taxes on the earned income from the 4.7%. California does not tax lottery income. It is the IRS rates in the future that are unknown. As these jackpots grow and roll over we will have fun! Lotto Dreaming
