Will NC Lottery players move online and hurt retail stores?
It's not just clerks being unfriendly, making mistakes, scamming, etc. But also cashing any sizable winner (ie. $100+) is often a huge hassle. From all indications, PA Lottery is well underway to launching on-line lottery sales. Can't come soon enough. Even if I have to wait for a check, that's fine. Heck, I'd save money that way. Though, I'd expect many on-line lotteries, that don't already, to offer direct debit card payment in the near future. Faster players get funds, more they'll wager a

A call to boycott Mega Millions loto game.
You're right when you ask, How much money do you really need? $100 million (billboard dollars) would suit me just fine. When it gets much past that, seems like it would be a pain in the butt to manage. I don't mind spending $2 bucks- to me it's like a puzzle to solve, but you have to pay to enter the contest. And I sure don't go overboard. What I don't like about the new MM is that while most states still use the Megaplier, a few are using the new Just the Jackpot option instead- for the same

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
The thrill of the chase has been killed by the Florida Lottery. There was something very fun about getting a location report when a game was very hard to come by, and then taking road trips to find those tickets. It sucks that they are being like this now. Between that, the unbelievable amount of duds right now, and no large jackpots being overdue or really even close to due, by my math, playing has completely lost its luster. I have been doing very well at the casino the last few months. I t

The USA's 'luckiest' lottery players may not be as lucky as they seem
Yes, that is what it is! The lotteries already have a huge house advantage, what else do they want? The lottery games are made in such a way that the players won't make a profit except for the very few who win big lottery jackpots. Those many who win that they speak about are relatively very few people and in reality they don't win very often. The states should not cry so much about a few people winning, all or most of those who win do spend lots and lots of money buying lottery tick

Cash4Life
Here's another reason players may not be all that excited by C4L; Many people are surprised to learn that lottery jackpots are paid over 20 to 25 years and the IRS withholds 28 percent federal income tax from each check. If, for example, you win $1 million, most states pay you $50,000 a year for 20 years less 28 percent federal withholding tax, leaving you with $36,000 a year. You may also have to pay additional income taxes when you file your return, depending on your overall financial situ

$650 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot skyrockets
Hi Alexnt55! Your post made me realize the one thing that the $1.6 billion dollar jackpot had that this one does not and that is a major holiday as in the New Year! We went straight through Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day with no Jackpot win... I think that had a lot to do with why so many people were willing to spend so much money....everyone wanted a chance to start the New Year with a potential jackpot win! There's another time during the year that lott

$510 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot soars into top 10
Yes, there are many more playing than usual, but not to the extent I recall in the past at this jackpot level. Likely they'll bump the estimate up before Saturday, but would be surprised if it rises much above $550 million. Maybe I'm visiting the wrong retailers, because not seeing much PB buying. Presumably, Saturday will be more busy, but still strange not to see more regulars buying in bulk like they used to. This past drawing, I played 3 lines with Powerplay (hitting 2nd place is 25X m

$430 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot surges on rollover
And hitting 2nd place is 25 times more likely than winning the jackpot. And all other lower tier prizes are, at minimum, doubled with up to 5X being possible. On the other hand, many players are focused on winning the jackpot, and care little about the lower tier prizes. It's the main reason Mega Millions, if the matrix change goes as planned, will also feature an optional (some lotteries may choose not to participate) Just the Jackpot option; 2 plays for $3 for only a chance at the jackpot w

$650 million in lottery jackpots up for grabs this week
Amazing how slow jackpots grow now. 28 drawings to get to $346 million annuity ($216.1 million cash). When the price doubles to $2, the jackpot will grow somewhat quicker initially, but then, as one already sees with Powerball, only grow moderately for awhile until it's around $300-$500 million. I've noticed even at $300+ million, there aren't lines; mostly still regular players wagering. $500+ million annuity will bring in casual players in droves with the news media touting how big the j
