Six now face charges in CT Lottery scheme
My guess is the only part of the article some of these people read is that somebody with an Asian sounding name did something. What gets me is the same poster that redundantly shows the 70% to 80% PB sales to wins ratio can't understand the ratio of gas stations and convenience stores are owned by people with Asian sounding names.

Six now face charges in CT Lottery scheme
Apparently a group of people found a way to cheat the CT lottery, were caught, and are charged with a crime, but you believe there is much more to the article. If you have any facts showing that people with those type of name are more prone to cheat a state lottery, simply show it.

Six now face charges in CT Lottery scheme
For those keeping score, Rahul Gandhi, Sedat Kurutan, and Moinuddin Saiyed were also mentioned in the article. For those who want to discuss how simple it is to manipulate lottery terminals to cheat, first and last names are irrelevant.

Offshore gambling site laundered $2 million in Amazon gift cards, Feds say
I have a friend who plays in this offshore place and i informed him about the article on LP.He was a bit tensed but said that he plays online because he does not have lots of money to play retail, anyhow he had a chat with one of the agents there and they admitted that they had problems with Amazon cards and the moment they realised that there were some legal issues connected to it they had stopped using that option,he also assured that everything else is working fine and there was no reason to w

Mathematicians shocked to find pattern in "random" prime numbers
I don't have a theory, other than what I'm doing in the Take 5 forum. I just discovered the article, right as I was preparing to go to work, so I thought I'd post it.

Falling lottery sales pinch college scholarships
Interesting that this news article also mentions some of the promises that the pro-lottery politicians in Alabama are promoting. If a lottery fulfills those promises that's one thing, but if the government people are all for it only seeing it as a means to stuff their own pockets that's quite another.

WV Lottery officials oppose jackpot anonymity bill
Pfft. Expectation of transparency, my great Aunt Petunia; this is nothing more than a sleazy attempt by the WV lottery officials to line their pockets. As they said in the article, publicity drives sales. The lottery executives compensation is partly driven by increasing sales; they want people being photographed standing at the press conference, receiving that huge oversized check; they make more money that way.
What they don't say in the article is the lottery executives know from experien

Ex-wife of big UK lottery winner still wouldn't take him back
Snarky and misleading article by the press. They have been divorced for a long time, both remarried, and both appear to be happy with their current spouses. Why seek her out for comment at all?

Massachusetts woman spent lottery winnings to help homeless man
Just read in a Boston newspaper website he is being charged because he didn't register an address--registered sex offender it said. Be careful to judge him however, sometimes sex offender does not mean what many people imply it means. He could have had this on his record from his teenage years (yes, it does happen) or a minor offense. On the hand he could be the type we most fear. I refused to read the article, to me he is just a down on his luck homeless person hence no address to report.
