How is this not a massive fraud by the Florida Lottery?
As for the public at-large, many players don't understand the basics of statistics; much folklore. Can't fault the lottery on that. However, player ignorance makes pulling the wool over their eyes easier. Heck, some readers here, even after much explanation, don't fully understand the issue you're pointing out. There is nothing difficult about reading the Florida scratch-off remaining prizes chart and seeing that game #1265 has three remaining $10 million prizes and 40 remaining $1 million

Setting Up a Blind Trust
A blind trust is essentially a deed that describes an agreement that falls under the category of irrevocable living trusts. As in other trusts, there is trust grantor, a trustee or administrator, and a beneficiary. When blind trusts are constructed for purposes other than to manage lottery winnings, the beneficiary is not be able to access the assets held by the trust. Some state lotteries encourage jackpot winners to deposit their prize money into a trust, though not necessarily a blind

Wisconsin MegaBucks $$
In PA the starting jackpot is $500,000 so it can take a whole month or five weeks just to get to $1 million dollars. It starts to move a little better after that. Yes, you are correct, the difference in population probably has a lot to do with PA having smaller jackpots plus I have another theory, unproven of course ... maybe more people have given up or cut back on MM and PB going after better odds to win something. Thinking about it ... the smaller population actually works or is a plus

$485 MILLION: Powerball jackpot raised
Seriously? I actually run an office pool with 19 members, and a smaller one with 5 members. We are playing for the jackpot, and we each buy tickets on the side looking to win the jackpot individually. I highly doubt someone buying a ticket for themselves is going to say, well I'll just split it with the other 18 members of the pool even though they had their own set of tickets. The purpose of the pool is to, well, pool your money and buy more tickets so you can win the jackpot. Plus it's

Texas Lottery has its best week of scratch-off sales in 23-year history
Scratch-off sales for last week totaled nearly $76 million Last week, the Texas Lottery had its highest scratch-off ticket sales in the Lottery's 23-year history. Sales for scratch-off games totaled $75,677,650 beating the previous record of $75,360,138 set in March 2013. We are thrilled with last week's scratch-off sales as revenue generated from these games benefits public education and veterans in Texas, said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery. When Texans are playi

For those who complain about what states win
pickone4me, You're calling me a liberal? Ridiculous. You're the one who has all the hallmarks of a liberal. Your lack of creativity shines right through when someone says something and you attempt to reverse it and make them look guilty of it. Really pathetic. Like I said, if you don't play MM or PB why are you so upset about who wins it and where they are from? When first told to go to the MM winner's gallery you wouldn't even look at it, now it's an education. What a . Ano

Lucky for Life multi-state lottery game set to expand next week
Lucky for Life is not a rolling jackpot game. The more LFL tickets sold, the worse the potential payout is to players. The exact opposite of what many players are accustomed to. The main problem with LFL is the top prize $1,000 per day ($5.75 million cash value) is immediately para-mutuel - if even few as two win, it automatically splits. While that was highly unlikely to occur in the past, it very much could occur as more states join in. Personally, I feel Powerball is a better route verses

Joys of running a lottery pool
I think it depends upon how many players are in the pool as to making the decision as to how much money would be rolled back in the pool or distributed to the members. The pool I run at my workplace that can have many as 30 players. (Sometimes we get more than 30) Winning 600 bucks would mean 20 bucks for each player, so I'd distribute the cash. I'd do that simply because we've only hit small prizes that are put back in the pool. I'd be nice to hand out money to the players rather than always
