I wondered if Mike Dee scanned his tickets first and knew what he won before posting on YouTube. After reading his article sounds like he does. He puts on the show for us already knowing what the prize is. Doesn't change the fact he is one lucky SOB!

I keep seeing that 70% figure tossed around in here and in many website articles, but the very few that cite a source refer to a The National Endowment for Financial Education estimation and none that I've seen have linked to the specific article on NEFE. (Here's one on the NBC website, supposedly a reputable source of news. Yeah, right.) A great example of a totally clueless reporter irresponsibly writing an article. I like how the facts about Eddie Tipton are just woven into things that have nothing to do with him. Really bad reporting. Hopefully whatever website published that does not have a big readership so they don't mislead too many people.

As the article says, their hands are tied because the ticket lacks the bar code. They've got to follow the rules, and they clearly spent far more than $50 trying to come up with a way to pay her without violating the rules. What they didn't do, but probably could have, is give her $50 worth of tickets.
