$450 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot nears record
@jack27, this is true for the simple fact that those who can least afford to gamble/play the lottery are those that spend the most. I'm not rich, or particularly what I would call well-off so, I only buy ONE ticket (usually with power-up option) per drawing when the jackpot gets BIG. I can comfortably afford to lose (in probability) my $2-3 per ticket. I do not, however, spend my whole paycheck or even a large(r) portion on the lottery. That way lies madness.
I, like many, have a child to put

pick 3 system that really works most of the times
Nothing to see here this is just another recycled WIND system. Destiny provided the link same concept. This mumbo jumbo has been around here forever. The WIND post was from 11 years ago. Texas runs 4 draws a day for players like me on a budget this will just not cut it. 48 possible combinations each draw. I would go broke. No thanks I am better off following DannyboyHouston at least he has an idea of what playing on a budget is. Did you forget some people are playing on a budget? I am retired. N

You Just Won The Lottery!
I would probably double check with an attorney and confirm my belief that a trust isn't necessary. After that I would immediately go to lottery headquarters and cash in the ticket. In my state I can claim the prize annoymously. My husband would quietly retire. I would keep my mouth shut and not tell anyone I won for several months just to muddy the waters so they wouldn't know exactly how much I had. I figure family would probably figure out that my standard of living had changed so I would even

First winner of big Illinois Lotto jackpot didn't let riches change him
Yes, Mike's own young family of five lived very comfortably, not extravagantly these past 30 years. That's the only way he was able to retire and take on the huge responsibility of paying for rearing four additional people in a very comfortable lifestyle.
If Mike paid for his three sons to earn their own Bachelors degree, he and his wife probably only have $1.5M left to live on the interest of for the rest of their lives. It would have been smarter for him to have only split the jackpot mone

Do you think even if you play for years the chances of a decent win are still impossible?
Hi Bigbear29,
To answer some of your questions I have no idea how many people win a second tier jackpot per year and ever since the matrix for MM changed to 75 balls it has brought about far less 2nd place winners. The reason I even play MM on occasion is in the hopes of a secondary prize since I always play with the multiplier with the extra dollar and a person could have a chance of winning from 2 to 5 million ( though after taxes it's much less). The odds of getting a second place win on M

Do you think even if you play for years the chances of a decent win are still impossible?
Hi everyone,
Just wondering if most people still believe that even if you play the lottery for years that it's impossible to win a jackpot? It seems way more likely to lose big time than to win a jackpot ever (especially when you take the odds of MM PB into consideration). Since I've kept myself on a strict budget over a year ago I can afford to play for the long haul but realistically know it's going to be even harder for me to win because I stopped playing scratch tickets and only buy the d

Washington State Lottery
I doubt anybody is going to rack up on scratchers , unless they have the financial ability to buy them in large quantities, like by the roll.
I don't spend much money on scratchers under $10, simply because so few of them have large enough top prizes to allow me to retire immediately, if I were lucky enough to win a top prize. If you want to win real big, you have to aim real big.
Why spend a lot of money on a $1 card with a top prize of only $5000? I would much rather spend my money on a

Georgia Lottery Scratch Offs
The reason people have to go big after starting small is because small didn't get them anywhere. Choose three cards with several large top prizes left, say two $10 cards and a $20, and stick with them.
I don't spend much money on cards $5 or less, because the top prizes aren't high enough to allow me to retire. After taking the lump sum and paying federal and state taxes, it wouldn't be enough to live on for more than a few years, so I'd have to keep on working.
Stick with the $10s and $2
