Why Quick Picks win...Hint: It's *NOT* what you think, folks!
You state the number of combinations to be sold is controlled . This implies a pool of numbers is offered for sale, while another pool of numbers is held back. Does this mean that all of the lottery machines in the Mega Millions states are linked to a central computer and obtain a supply of numbers for each drawing? Possibly a central computer could be linked OR each state's computer was programmed from a master computer to issue only a certain percentage of all possible combinations.

o yes, I agree with everyone, u r awsome! Thank u for your time Lucky. By the way, my nick name was Lucky because I was the #1 high woman pool shooter in Sw Fla. for 10 yrs. If I reduce the MM or PB number pool by half and play 3o2e/3e2o...(?)
PowerBall had its last matrix change 162 drawings back at 09/07/05. The bonus numbers pool didn't change but its regular numbers pool went from 52 to 55 shortly after MegaMillions changed its matrix.

would you play in a jackpot pool
And what can a lottery pool of 10 - 20 people do with a third or second tier prize...agonize like that Minnesota pool that billed itself 1 Away From Retirement ?!!! A single winner can make good use of $200K/$250K (minus taxes), but anything less than $10K is nice chump change.

Determining Hot and Cold Numbers
It allows the player to cover more numbers with a lower guaranteed at a lower cost. It for the player who hopes to win something even if it's not the jackpot. Once the number pool reach a certain size, wheeling can be expensive for good coverage so I prefer to pick numbers randomly from the pool with a few parameters to guarantee a good mix such as not repeating combinations of threes or more too often, restricting certain numbers to certain positions and etc.

Do you believe you'll win a large jackpot in your lifetime?
I actually still buy QP's after I play my selected numbers to clear the system out of my numbers. This way no one walks up after me and gets a QP with my number pool except me. I have a system that cuts the number pool in half and then some, then I go through more variables and end up playing 3 odd 2 even or vice versa.

Damn, I keep putting all the right numbers on the wrong lines...
I put my pool of numbers into a RNG and make my combinations that way. The only filtering I use is all high/low, odd/even. Works as well as a wheel and I cover half of the possible number pool.

$370 MILLION: Mega Millions sets all-time lottery jackpot record
I would LOVE to see it roll past $400 Million! However I think someone will hit tonight. I predict it will be a lottery pool someplace. I mean people buying $200 worth of tickets at a time will be a 20 person lottery pool.

Mega now at 340
If I don't win Mega on Tuesday, I hope it rolls once more so that its annuity will be a record too, but it probably won't roll. The current cash jackpot beats Powerball's "record" annuity's cash jackpot, even if you added the match 5 bonus pool cash to it (the $365 million PB annuity was worth $177 million cash, and the match 5 bonus pool had $20 million cash, totaling only $197 million).

Lotto 5/25: New Game Idea
Rdc137, i don't know what you mean by states too small to have their own pick6 game? what do you mean by that? I thought about the idea before too..I've even wrote it down..But your concept you describe above, there is a mistake i don't think would work..The 1of 5= free ticket option i don't think it will work..I don't think there should be prize for the 1 of 5 option..A game with that option will be too easy having in mind that a 5/25 would be ..I am not sure but the 2 of 5 option should ha
