Lottery Terminal, Technical Question
justxploring,
The lottery machines are on essentially on a large VPN (virtual private network) that is dependent on good broadband connectivity, if there are any network issues, bottlenecks (slowdowns), outages(offline), weather issues(offline), etc. the machines will slowdown or go offline and be unavailable until the network is back and available and they are able to log on. The newer machines like the hopped up ones we got in MD. (they scan tickets like a fax machine) can be updated ove

Was I discriminated against for playing lotto?
Toot, sorry that happened to you. Happened to me, too only it was an eating establishment. Nobody was in there at the time, so - I went in to play my NJ Pick 6 ticket, mind you - I had already filled in my numbers to play. Just as the clerk was about to enter my selected plays into the machine a slew of people came in. Just at that moment, the guy looks at me and says: This can wait! I have to take care of these people first! Can you believe that? All he had to do was enter the ticket into that

N.Y. store clerk busted in Lotto scam
DD, I agree with you. However, I see people checking tickets every day at the store. Some of the terminals show the amount won or no winner on the back so the customer can read it, but I don't see them at every location.
Do any stores have self-checking terminals? I figure if I can use the self checkout at Walmart and Albertson's (which seems to always be disabled) there should be a do-it-yourself lottery terminal. You put in a dollar, like a change machine at a car wash, you punch in y

Oklahoma Powerball Winner
Usually, the lottery officials will tell the public where the winning ticket was sold, but not this time.
I have a feeling the winner owns the store that the ticket was bought from and has contacted lottery officials already to not disclose his/her store/identity until further notice.
It could be that same couple in Foss, Oklahoma who won one million from their own store's powerball machine.
At any rate, whoever it is, it's really great for Oklahoma. I can't wait to find out who won.

Can the retailer screw up you winning?
Most lotteries now are fairly foolproof...if you get the printed ticket you are ok. Some lotteries allow cancelling a ticket within a certain timeframe, but the original ticket usually must be run through the machine and the word "Cancel" is printed on the ticket (this may not apply to all states with lotteries and here in Florida, some online games cannot be cancelled once purchased, for example, the Grouper game and ez-match cannot be cancelled).
What can happen is at the time of turning in

New FL Fantasy 5 is BOOMING
Quote: Originally posted by Tnplayer805 on March 25, 2006 I have a question about EZplay. If you win something and cash it in are the numbers still good? The retailer tried to keep my ticket but I demanded it back. (Not sure about it)

Most retail workers I've had experience with have not had any training on the lottery machine. This is why I have a number I call 20 minutes after the drawing and find out the winning numbers that

Am I going crazy?
Quote: Originally posted by BobP on March 22, 2006 Ah no, as you would soon find out when trying the strategy. The ezmatch numbers are randomly chosen by the terminal after you submit your numbers. They can all be like your first ticket example, no winning matches between played numbers and ezmatch numbers. As each ticket is printed independently there is no call to the terminal to assign 36 different ezmatch numbers, but it is charged with maintaining the posted odds, so it is more like playing

Hoosier Lottery Does It Again
You guys will not believe what happened to me this evening! I have been studying the patterns for the Hoosier Lottery Pic 4 for the past couple of months and felt that Quad 8888's had a chance to win. So I stopped at the store on the way home from work to by my evening pic 4 using the number 8888. Amazingly, the machine would not give me a ticket with the quad 8888's. Instead, it spit out a ticket that said This number has been cutoff . I was in disbelief! The time was approximately 6:14 pm (ab

Article: Lotteries still directed to poor
The Illinois lottery put an ad on a billboard above a poor Chicago neighborhood with the slogan, This could be your way out. What they did not say is that the odds of winning the lottery can be as much as 20 million to one, ridiculously higher than the casino slot machine odds of 20 to one. Who is Tina Gianoulis, what is her expertise about lotteries, and where is she getting her information?According to the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries, Duane V. Burke, CEO C
