Mega wait almost over for lottery's Mega Millions
A day doesn't go by without a customer asking Duc Lu when he's going to start selling the Mega Millions lottery tickets. They say, `When do they come in?' I say, `Don't worry, you come in, I'll tell you what day they come out,' said Lu, 47, who has run the HLD Food Mart on Koenig Lane for 18 years.Lu hasn't sold a winning lottery ticket, but it hasn't discouraged people from making his store the No. 1 retailer for Texas Lotto and scratch-off ticket sales in Austin. He attributes his high sales

Do lottery systems really work?

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
is anyone going to bother with Mega Millions tonight?
Even without PB being a bit more than 3 times as big MM is still well shy of my entry point, given the price and odds. I'm thinking some time in October is when I'll get in the game, assuming it's still rolling (and it probably will be).
Under the prior ticket pricing structure I would have purchased my usual 1 ticket per drawing.
Sorry to tell you but: They. Don't. Care.
No tickets for me under any circumstances but am cu

Powerball changing in October to generate bigger jackpots
Beautiful...going from 1/175 Mil to 1/292 Mil ??
Goal is to make it more difficult to win the jackpot -
sales have slumped since 2013
In N.Y.(2014) sales plummeted 44%
Nationwide sales declined nationally by 19% last year because there was no huge jackpot --Might call BS on that no huge jackpot
2014- 4 jackpots over 200 Million, 2013- 6 jackpots over 200 million, 2012 - 5 jackpots over 200 million, 2011 - 4 jackpots over 200 million, 2010 - 3 jackpots over 200 million

Are Mega Millions sales really that bad now?
Where did you find those far more potential players
I found most of them in the 23 states that didn't sell MM until January 2010. You know that doubling the number of states selling tickets increases the number of potential players, right? For the 10 starting jackpots before those states were added sales totaled about $154 million. The 10 starting jackpots immediately after adding those states had sales of about $183 million. The most recent 10 starting jackpots have racked up sales of abou

Biggest lottery game ever in the works?
...Now if only Florida WOULD join the MegaMillions first, then the MUSL can create any national lottery they want. Honestly, do they believe people wouldn't play our state lottery? I'm sure the result would just be like California, where people still actually play the state lottery too.
In all seriousness though, this sounds really interesting! An actual national lottery could be something huge! Not sure if I'd want a national scratcher though. Not enough options and despite the better odds,

Why the difference in payout between Powerball and Megamillions
CDanaT,
From the Powerball website FAQ page:
WHY IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CASH PAYOUTS IN THE POWERBALL AND MEGA MILLIONS GAMES?
A fixed percentage of every Mega Millions and Powerball ticket sold goes into its CASH jackpot. The cash jackpot is all the money that the lottery has on hand from the sale of tickets in the game. If a player chooses the cash option, then the lottery will pay the entire cash amount to the winner (less income tax withholding amounts required by federal

$244 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery frenzy ramps up
i too perfer MUSL,hell i want their hot lotto to replaced my state pack 6 even
but i rather they don't gain control of MM,
it was the same overall leadership in MUSL that Thinked of a Jackpot Cap, was the best idea in whole world.
now to give everyone a idea, mm record cash, 240m , powerball jackpot cash record is 177.3m , here the issue, its Annuity cap only goes up 25m, or about 13m max cash per rollover, at cap,
it has no chance in hell of ever Giving us large record jackpots of

Actually, the probability of $300 M jackpots in MM is slightly higher with new states.
I did an analysis of the probability of $300M jackpots in MM with 1.7 as large a population as is currently obtained, using average sales for each drawing compiled over several years.
The number, 1.7, is all (PB states population + MM population)/(MM population).
I then used a poisson distribution for 0 winners (a rollover) showing with these sales figures for each drawing.
I then multiplied each previous rollover probability for all drawings (product) to find the overall probability of
