Quick decision: New Ark. Lottery chief recommends Powerball
I don't think they will change the matrix because of Arkansas joining. It would take a state of higher population levels than that -- such as when Florida joined (the impetus of the last matrix change).
What will be interesting to watch is if MUSL allows Mega Millions states to join the game. What will they do then? Let's say New York joins Powerball, as their legislature wants to do (if it ever gets back into session). With one of the largest state populations in the nation, it could increas

Does anyone have a chart or program to show this breakdown?
jackpotismine
Since you mentioned 5/39 and what is most popular, consider:
These are the Illinois Little Lotto (5/39) jackpots since Jan 1 2008:
47 jackpots 38 QP 25 PS
That includes shared jackpots.
So we have 80.8% of the winners having played quick picks and 53.2% of the winners having picked their own numbers.
The QP jackpots are less likely to have been shared jackpots.
I've been tracking it, hit by hit, here:

California lottery struggles with tepid sales
Though California and its schools are begging for cash, one of the state's supposed gold mines produces roughly half of what it should for education, analysts say.But officials at the languishing state-run lottery say there's hope the operation will be shipping nearly another $1 billion annually to schools. It first, however, must succeed in throwing off woes such as legal restrictions on games, which some say are outdated in this age of widespread Indian gambling, and then generate an excitement

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
While the revenue is being talked about and consideration is being given to what percent is being generated at a certain dollar value, people are also not including the starting point of $50 Million which, IMHO, is another bells and whistles gimmick in this new improved MM version from MUSL. Starting at $50M already puts you up 2+ draws on any previous jackpot, whether its the MM or the PB in the last decade plus.

Well, that was quick.
Less than 12 hours after the initial estimate for Friday's Mega Millions jackpot was set early this morning, the already ground-shaking grand prize has now increased to an estimated $900 million.
The jackpot's estimated cash value has also been increased to $513.4 million.
Friday's $900 million Mega Millions jackpot is the largest in the game's history, and the 2nd-largest lottery jackpot in world history. The only larger lottery jackpot ever aw

Odd Brits furious that lottery jackpot is so high
UK lottery players are calling for a boycott after there was no jackpot winner for the sixth draw in a row
By Todd Northrop
British media is reporting that lottery players in the United Kingdom are 'disappointed' and 'furious' that lottery jackpots in the island nation have reached record levels.
Players were left disappointed after Saturday's 14.4 million (US$19.1 million) jackpot rolled over once again, as did Friday night's Euro Millions drawing.
Around the world, huge lottery jac

The 5 lottery jackpots Tipton and his friends stole
Eddie Tipton, the now-infamous former security chief at the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), is accused of installing software on Random Number Generators that allowed him to predict winning combinations for drawings that occurred on three dates every non-leap year Nov. 23, Dec. 29 and May 27.
So far, Tipton and his associates have been linked to winning tickets in five states between 2005 and 2011. Here are the details:

Things that make you go HMMMMM
lottocalgal,
This is for the last two years for Illinois Litle Lotto, 2008 to 2009.Each state and game is different of course, but it appears this one is pretty consistent.
As of today, Feb 17, for 2010 its tied 16-16 between QP and Player Picks (PS, Player's Selections)
These were the 2008 results:
146 Jackpots
120 QP 82.19%
91 PS 62.32%
(includes shared jackpots)
2008 was a leap year. So in 366 days jackpots were paid out 146 times or every 2.506 days
