I run my office pool. Upsides: I get to buy $100 worth of tickets for major jackpots, instead of $5. If I do win, any fame from winning will also be split 20 ways, so it will be a little easier to hide. Its only lavish because they have to kill 200 elephants to make their toilet, (which they then have to puke in after doing some H buts that ok because America only initiated a war to secure the availabilty of H to those who desire it.)
