Mega Vs Power, Something is off..
The calculation of the annuity depends on interest rates. In the past 10 days there have been crazy swings in the interests rates, due to what is happening for tariffs and stock markets. Powerball ans Mega Millions annuity are computed based on interests on different days (because the draws occur in different days), and that is why you see a significant difference between one game and the other. Once the markets will stabilize, you'll see the two games converge. Kind regards

Mega Vs Power, Something is off..
Most jackpot winners opt to take the lump sum. I think (if non exists) you should do an educational video on the annuity option. Possibly addressing concerns on the likelihood of a state going bust and not paying it all or any other eventuality. Maybe with the right education, some winners may opt to go the annuity way

I need the experts to help me here.
I know that sounds like am contradicting myself, lol. But honestly unless there is very valid reason as to why I should not take the annuity, for instance the annuity is not guaranteed, I would be more than happy to get the full payout after 30 years. The only investment I can do with the initial payout would be in bonds. So I could as well let them do that for me with the full cash amount

Millionaire for Life multi-state lottery game to replace Cash4Life and Lucky for Life in February
Well there is quite a range of opinions on mil 4 life here in this forum. First off thanks Kate for the info! I'm a lucky 4 life player but, I only play on mon and or thur when the pb and or mm is less than 250 mil (tho' I m thinking of raising the threshold to 300 or 350 mil). I'm sorta a traditionalist on the Monday and Thursday thing as the original drawings were held on these two days Now that the price has increased I will change one criteria .... that is I'll definitely o

New York man turns grocery run into $3 million lottery annuity
Winner opts for 20 years of payments over lump sum By Kate Northrop A simple visit to the grocery store turned into a $3 million annuitized payday after a New York man decided to buy a lottery ticket. A New York man won a $3 million top prize on a scratch-off ticket he purchased at the supermarket, a prize that he decided he would take full advantage of. Kurt Kelleher of Shirley was at King Kullen on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley when he thought to try out the New York Lottery

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Yes, it's very telling the advertised jackpot increase is only $10 M after 8 rollovers. Do you understand how the game and its financing work? Both PB and MM have always started with artificially high jackpots that aren't fully funded, and never had more than the minimum increase until there's enough cash to fully fund the jackpot. The smaller jackpot of the old format was funded quickly. With the new format the jackpot would remain artificially high for more drawings with exactly the same

New Mega Millions game reports 300% increase in non-jackpot prizes in first month
They had to, we were calling them out on it. They had to, because the jackpot is based on how much cash they have, and as of tonight they have enough cash to fund a $122 million annuity. They are selling less tickets but bringing in more money. I don't know why so many people seem confused. What's happening is pretty much exactly what happened when PB added a 3rd drawing. Fewer tickets were sold for the Wednesday and Saturday drawings, but sales for Monday drawings increased the to

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
The cash value is only running at 10% of what it would be when it was at $2.00 a line. 90% of all other cash jackpots were much higher by this time in the jackpot run. This may be reflective of this poll where nearly 60% are not playing. Here's some data since the $5.00 a line change. Peculiar, the change in annuity and cash don't follow each other for many drawings at the beginning of the jackpot run. Mega Millions Jackpot Values at $5.00 a Line Index Date Amo

I know that this is technically not a lottery question, it's about PCH Sweepstakes bankruptcy .
Thank you for that indepth detailed link to the PCH Annuity Sweepstakes Bankruptcy. :) I was mistaken when I said he was supposed to get millions until his death, turns out he was getting $260,000 a year before taxes. That's still a very nice chunk of change to live off. There are people who work for 10 years and accumulate around $260,000 minus taxes and he was getting that every year for 10 years and not having to work. He shouldn't have blown his money frivolously.
