US Powerball multi-state lottery game expanding to the UK
In the UK the game is different
1) The ticket will cost 4 pounds or $5.00 at today's exchange rate
2) If you get (2) of the white ball numbers you get 8 pounds or $10.00
3) if you win the jackpot you can't get the cash option only the annuity (You can sell that annuity to an insurance company for NPV (Net Present Value) in a heartbeat. )
4) In the US - lottery sales are $100 billion a year but only $10 billion in the UK.
5) US Powerball ticket prices in the UK will be the mos

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
I know Lotto Motto can appreciate what I'm about to write because he/she is located in Miami.
I mostly play Florida Fantasy5 due to it's 376,992 to 1 odds. Fantasy5's jackpots aren't exactly life changing. Midday draws pay out roughly $45,000 before taxes to a single winner. The Evening Fantasy5 draw pays approximately $100,000 to a single jackpot winner. (Again, before taxes)
If all Raffle tickets in their respective range are sold, the odds of winning are 1 in 100,000. If fewer Raffle

Lucky For Life to Millionaire For Life - $5 Ticket
I re-did the calculations and it's the typical draw game, in terms of payback %.
But it is still far better than MM, in my opinion. Here's why:
Probability of winning the top prize is just over 12 times better. $18 million (or the annuity of $1 million/year) is still life-changing money.
M4L (Millionaire for Life) has no silly multipliers. You win exactly what it says on the prize chart for matching x number of balls.
MM (and PB) is a progressive jackpot game, which is why it can

Lucky For Life to Millionaire For Life - $5 Ticket
The difference between Lucky for Life $2 and Millionaire for Life $5 is nothing like the difference between old MM $2 and new MM $5. New MM $5 is a horrible game. It's not just the price of $5, it's what you get for that five bucks.
Lucky for Life $2 has a 1 in 30 million chance of winning the top prize. Millionaire for Life improves that to 1 in 23 million.
The ticket costs 2.5 times as much but the top prize is more than 2.5 times as much... 2.74 times as much as an annuity, or 3.13 ti

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
Since the race began when Mega Millions ticket prices were raised to $5, the Powerball jackpot reached about $1.8 billion twice. Whereas, Mega Millions reached just shy of $1 billion only once.
What exactly is the race ? If we're talking about bang for the buck(s) PB's cheaper price usually makes it the better bet, but at any given moment the jackpot divided by the ticket cost is as close as there is to a sensible metric for deciding which game to play. Right now MM's chance at $138 million

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Good new on the MEASLY MILLIONS front... The cash value ticked up a projected $100K for Friday 5/22/26. Perhaps it's a sign of Bigger, Faster jackpots that the participants were advised of. Good luck to all that are players of this game.

Help Me Understand This 😭
Does it mean we have fewer people playing MFL in the 31 states where it's available?
Very probably, but when random numbers are involved, you can never rule out random streaks of losing and winning.
Am I looking at the games wrongly? As a player should the focus be on the odds of winning or how often people are winning regardless?
Look at it this way - If somebody else wins the jackpot, are they going to send you a check? If not, you should focus on the odds of you winning.

Inflation affects the cost of operating the game,
Inflation also affects state budgets that are partially funded by lotteries. Inflation itself isn't a direct reason for the price increase. Decreasing lottery revenue and efforts to prop it up are the reason, so inflation is an indirect cause.
Of course the flip side of that coin is that most players do account for the price/risk of a bet to some degree. Here's the revenue for the first 5 drawings of the last 3 MM runs (current run on le

It looks as if the $5.00 MM ticket is doing poorly.
While there are games that cost more than $5..... $10 scratchers, $20 scratchers, $50 scratchers, $20 raffle tickets, etc., the difference is that in those games, you have a vastly higher chance of winning a large amount of money.
The problem with the new $5 MM is that they didn't change much of anything. It includes the multiplier for lower prizes (instead of giving you a choice to pay the extra $1). They included a 10X possibility but re-arranged the other multiplier odds to give you preci
