Cash Vs Annuity Payments
No one over the age of 30 should take the annuity. If you are bad with money, set up a trust with a trusted manager(s). Even for under 30's, I'd not choose annutity. At my age, annuity is not an option. I'm within 20 years of retiring and it would sure be nice to retire or semi-retire early and have more years to spend with my future grandchildren in complete financial security.

$170 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot raised
The story didn't say they were from Georgia, just that they had some property there. Of course then I think it was the next winner, who also won the same amount being from from Georgia. I was waiting for that story to mention that they had some land in Michigan and they were going to retire up here, but of course that'd be silly. No one wants to retire in Michigan, let alone move here.

Using Win To Start a Business
Have you used a lottery pay-out to start a small business? It sure beats looking for finance and paying interest. I know people say they would retire and not do anything anymore. But, it you won a small amount, not enough to retire on, but enough for seed capital; what would you do?

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy freedom
I think that winning a large jackpot can buy security and a certain amount of freedom which can lead to happiness. It would allow me to retire and allow my mother to retire and not have to worry about bills or medical expenses or things such as that. It would also allow my family and I to travel and get the things that we've always wanted.

-Mediocrity Winners-
I play for a chance at a better life. I don't have plans on trying to turn millions into more millions, I just want to retire and be able to allow certain members of my family to retire without having to worry about money troubles.

Why GA-KY-VA Lose for Life will flop
I think it's not enough for people to retire if they win Lose For Life. I think the only way GA, KY, and VA people can retire is if they win MM or PB jackpot.

Post Jackpot-Winner Blues
I think it's just normal. If the lottery sells hope and they run out what are you left with?It also doesn't help if therr aren't any big games in your area to fall back on. In WA there isn't even anything you could retire on. I'd say 2.6 million would be enough for me to retire on after tax. But games here never approach that exept for Mega.

working after a major jackpot win
If you won a 100 million you owe it to everybody who played so they could retire. To retire and buy anything you've ever wanted to buy.

How much to retire?
Personally I would probably need 5 mil to retire but I would want to give my family money and my wife's family money and help the less fortunate so I'de probably need 20 mil. to retire.

How much to retire?
Personally, I don't want to retire. I watched my dad slowly deteriate after he retired. When he went back to work, he seemed to regain his vitality. For me, I like what I do and I even like my boss. A few million would be nice, but I don't think I believe in a dollar amount that would make me want to retire. Just some of my thoughts is all.Sir Metro
