Ticket Redemption Question
Thanks for the welcome! It does not really bug me, I was just wondering if the same ticket can be cashed twice and tearing them was a security measure. That is the only explaination I can come up with.

if you found a winning ticket that wasn't yours
Q. What percentage in taxes will the Lottery withhold from my prize?
A. The Internal Revenue Service requires the Florida Lottery to withhold 25 percent federal withholding tax from prizes greater than $5,000 if the winner is a citizen or resident alien of the U.S. with a Social Security card. The Florida Lottery is not required to withhold federal withholding taxes from prizes for $5000 or less. If the prizewinner is a U.S. citizen or resident alien who does not have a Social Security num

Ethics or Not
???
I don't understand this poll. This really has nothing to do with ethics at all. I don't think you have much of a choice in this case. You cannot cash the ticket if someone else's name is on the back of it. When you walk into the Lottery Office, they will ask for 2 forms of ID including a photo ID (driver's license, passport) and your social security number. So whoever chooses this answer is admitting to Identity Theft!
Second, if there is any suspicious activity, the Lottery Of

Woman gets 30 days for stealing lottery tickets
good. I hate crooked clerks. My husband asked what would prevent clerks from doing this very thing and I couldn't answer him, except to say "I'm sure they have their security measures." Now, I can add this. He was going on about how he didn't trust the kind of scratch offs that you buy from a clerk. He preferred the kind you got out of a vending maching.

Only 1 day left to claim $19M N.J. Lottery jackpot
that is a good idea bambini but i guess some people would be worried that the wrong people recognize them and bug them for money or try to rob them but i would rather have my identity revealed on the evening news from security camera footage if that is the only way they can contact me that i won 19 million dollars...

What if?
Yes and no. Every web site you visit records your IP address in its web logs, and Lottery Post is no different. But No, I cannot get your home address from your IP address, and neither can any other web site.
However, if you were to do something illegal and the FBI asked me for your IP address, they could use that to work with your ISP to see exactly who was using that IP address at that moment in time, and then it could be traced by your ISP and the FBI to your house (or wherever you're lo

W. Canada Lottery web mistake causes player confusion
I totally agree...They were NOT the official winning numbers. Tickets were still being sold...the ILC's central computer system runs literally 24/7 and no draw can ever or will ever take place if the system is up and running. There are huge security measures that take place before and after the draw to ensure that nothing but random chance alone determines a winner. So for lottery players to believe that they were the winning numbers and were scratching their heads...remember that was the WCL

what do you see happening with the lottery in the next five years?
In the next 5 years, I definitely see the the first half billion dollar lottery happening. I just will have to buy my tickets an entire month in advance, which I am pretty close to doing anyway. But the country will be in total pandomonium about a jackpot that large. And if any one person were to win that amount, they will need to hire top notch security.
