Can math and logic improve chances of winning a jackpot?
Stack47, We're not really discrediting your remarks, just saying in this type of format the odds are known by the majority and the majority of posters are not interested in your lectures. If you agree with my remarks regarding the probabilities and odds for and against various events, why would you invest so much of your time and energy explaining to me and others how annoying it is to you that I'm telling you things you ALREADY KNOW? You won't admit it but I think I know why. You DO

Winning lottery ticket pits Pa. brothers against each other
Given the whole we had the wrong ticket and I threw it on the floor B.S. story Meehan gave over the phone to his brother the next day, acknowledges that Meehan knew they had an agreement. And then somehow ending up mysteriously cashing in a winning ticket ( when is not detailed) makes it pretty clear who the liar is. Unless that phone call was also made up by Sharp, in addition to the whole evening, bathroom celebration, return to house to make a plan. But those are a lot of physical facts fo

649 formula
Again, I usually ignore your postings as wasted hot air. But that comment is interesting because of how it reflects on you. Referring to http://alum.mit.edu/pages/sliceofmit/2012/08/14/winning-the-lottery, the article says exactly what I have been saying all along, namely: the only way to improve your odds is to purchase more tickets (lines). And the tickets should have the maximum number of unique sub-combinations. I'm sure that is all the group in the article did. The article states: ``T

$50M Powerball jackpot to be split 3 ways
I did very well in history and geography so I don't need your lessons. And I do realize what I wrote, do you realize it's sarcasm? I don't care about ANY states population, my post was based on the pure luck of these states to hit back2back and very often. New York for a while was winning back to back and Texas as big as it is does NOT win hardly as much as New York or Florida. Coincidence? Explain that one! lol And my comment about Florida/New York being cheat states Florida = Presi

So Close And Yet So Far Away.. !
I live in Tampa, FL and as you all know, Florida has won (at least shared in) the past 2 Powerball jackpots, including the record setting jackpot a few draws ago. Unfortunately, I am not the winner of either but both of the two winners were within a short drive of me. Getting closer to me, HOPEFULLY I'M NEXT! Hot Lotto
It does not say it is tax free . It says the Hot Lotto lottery pays the (federal?) withholding tax. (I have not looked to see if any state taxes lottery wins; my state does not. If your state does, I don't know if the Hot Lotto lottery would pay the state withholding.) As you should know if you work, withholding is merely an estimated tax payment. Your actual tax might be higher or lower, depending on your individual circumstances. Generally, you cannot know until you file your tax return

$550 MILLION: Powerball jackpot now more than a half-billion dollars
I understand your point, and its a good point. But higher jackpots doesn't necessarily mean higher ticket sales. Take for example, a jackpot with 500,000,000,000 cash option, after tax. then a jackpot with 900,000,000,000 cash option, after tax. I don't think the latter will have a higher number of tickets because people would've spent their as much as they can afford on the first jackpot already. Of course, that's a very extreme example. But the point still stands;

if "someone" found a way to beat the lottery wheel-would you label that cheating?
An interesting take sir. However, all long term advantages will not hurt the Man . It would only hurt the players. As there would be many more winners and thus jackpots would be considerably smaller or shared. Any change due to greed by players or by man agement would be detrimental to most games. Management has already gotten by this by putting a cap on sales on some games. Other means is by a cap on payout. As in last nights 8 jackpot winners sharing 80K. Any advantage gotten is up

What's the best lotto book?
Anyway, my point about how the games are constructed is that no matter what, no matter how much glitter a game appears to have, the lottery is always ahead of the player. But many players refuse to believe it. There are many more how will you spend and how will you collect your jackpot winnings topics than, if any do you know the odds against topics on LP. The Lottery Changed My Life is another hot topic. Do we really need a book to know someone will win about 25 PB and MM jackpots a year a
