How do I properly run an online lottery pool?
I have an idea to create a free forum online for my my very own (and probably first ever) lottery pool for mega millions. The idea is that instead of discussing a topic(s) with other members like on a typical forum, members register on my forum and basically just state weather they want to join the pool or not and post pictures of the tickets they bought before each drawing (as proof, if someone's ticket wins, that that person owns the ticket so that nobody can claim THEY bought the winning tick

Pa. lawmaker wants to give lottery winners right to remain anonymous
That mudslide was so bad, the car ended up in a canal in Pennsylvania, in a funky little place called New Hope (there's some irony in that, I think). There was nothing to indicate that it was anything more than the driver leaving a restaurant by the wrong exit and missing a turn in heavy rain. And there was no mudslide. And she was investigating the death of an Italian banker, not sports betting. Please then tell us how you explain the states that allow players to be anonymous. Please ex

Postal worker helps bust lottery scam
Foreign lottery schemes may be fleecing Americans out of as much as a billion dollars every year. The problem is so vast, congress is hearing testimony on the matter. Often suspects are overseas, and that's a challenge for law enforcement. But here's a case where a perceptive postal employee helped bring a suspect to justice right here in the United States. Something is not right here. Why are you getting all these Express Mail packages from all over the US? Mary Santiago asked the ri

Lottery Code has already been broken
Pre/post tests don't bother me. I don't think it affects the draws. I think systems people get upset because they only get a sample of the draws, like adding decks of cards to a shoe in blackjack, it makes it harder to get an accurate count. But based on the CA electronic draw example, trying to glean information from a random of a random in that manner, even with pre-draw data... I don't believe any system, if it could detect any anomaly in a RNG of that structure, would be enough to overcom

Texas Lottery suspends sales for 'All or Nothing' game
Is this limiting of duplicate number combos disclosed or confirmed anywhere by the lottery/state? What is the number or percentage? What does the terminal say when a number is rejected? And I think this is could be viewed as borderline fraud, if it is not disclosed. So if someone gets a quick pick generated at the terminal, it is not just a (pseudo) random number, it is also checked against existing numbers wagered with certain numbers withheld from the RNG results. If they start doing this o

Two months later, a winning lottery ticket
If clerks/Patels were more responsible we wouldn't have these issues and real winners would NOT be getting ripped off. No one expects the clerk behind the counter to commit lottery fraud When I walk into a store owned by a Patel to check my tickets I turn around and walk out without buying anything and don't care if they know it. The Patels should be watched very carefully.

Loopholes allow some Michigan lottery winners to stay on welfare
Lots of times people tell their case work about winning but the case worker do not report it because they do not want to do the paper work. Ok just let me say when I use to live in Michigan and was a single mother going to college. I was on welfare for 4 years, and ask my case work on how I can get some help attaining a washing machine for myself and my child. I was decline several times. So I work a temp job just for 5 days to buy a washing machine and told my case worker about it. Well 3 y

Anyone ever try Author Encoe's strategies?
I agree OnlyMoney. There are statistical tests for evaluating [pseudo]random numbers. These tests can also be applied to numbers produced by mechanical lottery machines. Here's a good source: http://csrc.nist.gov/groups/ST/toolkit/rng/documents/nissc-paper.pdf BTW, the long sequence [222...233] that SozzledBoot wondered about is not one I would want to wait for if it's a string of Pick-3 hits! The probability of that happenning randomly is the same as any other specific string of 12

Judge throws out some charges against lottery-thieving brothers
What's also crazy is that NY has that $500,000,000 Extravaganza scratch-off game that ran for 5 years, alowing for someone to claim a win 6 years later, a year after the end date. Our scratch games in CA only run around a year or less, and then you have 180 days to claim after end date. That long time between purchase and claim just screams fraud. Like that Hot Lotto incident a while back claimed by the lawyer hours before deadline. If they wait that long, there's something wrong.

What are the chances we'll see a worldwide lottery someday?
Very true, the temptation for some type of fraud would be enormous given the amount of money that would be involved. There would no doubt need to be a good deal of safeguards and regulation in place to oversee operations for a game like that. It certainly would be an exciting game in reality. With true worldwide participation the jackpots could start in the quarter billion range and go up from there. It would be like the recent Powerball frenzy for EVERY drawing.
