Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
MM has been won. The jackpot is reset at $6.8M cash, 12M annuity. The average 1st draw sells 15.9M tickets. The winner probability distribution is, if the draw sells an average number of tickets, as follows: 091.35% 18.27% 20.37% 30.01% With the jackpots in the two largest MM states, California and New York, being considerably higher, the MM may not sell an average number of tickets. It depends on what happens tonight. The last first drawing a few weeks ago, sold les

LP members and lottery beliefs
fair enough It's impossible, until someone makes it possible. I still buy a ticket for each draw... I just waste less time trying to search for order in the chaos. All lottery systems put forth thus far, from pay systems to ones posted free, have coincidence at their core. it is upon this realization that you can move to different areas of number generation, really get outside the box. Take fortune cookies, for an example. Have fortune cookie picks won jackpots? Absolutely! Has is h

Lotteries: which one is better.
This is my selection. Here i show which lotteries are better than others... Nd Wild 2 Card is better than kansas cash. Reason: Nd wild2Card is pick5 (1-31) + pick1 (1-16 wild card) and jackpot starts at: 100,000.......Kansas cash is: pick5 (1-32) + pick1 (1-25)=jackpot starts at 100,000 Missouri lotto is better than Washington state lotto. Reason: Missouri lotto is a pick6, 1-44 and the minimun jackpot is 1 million dollars; Washington state lotto is a pick6, 1-49 and the minimum jackpot i

The odds of both neither, just one.
Improbably, both jackpots were hit this week, one after another. I hope that lottery players will look at the bright side of this event: Improbable events do occur. Here is the probability chart of either, neither, both rolling over for these two reset drawings: Type of OutcomeProbability Powerball Rolls.90.43% Megamillions Rolls91.30% Both Roll82.56% Powerball Rolls, MM won7.87% MM Rolls, Powerball won.8.74% Both won.0.83% Either, but not both, won16.61%

Why an Annuity?
My mistake. I skewed what you originally said (probably seeing what I wanted to see). I thought you were stating that at some earlier point, state-run lotteries were required, by law, to issue jackpots as annuities. But what you're saying (and correct me if I'm wrong) is that state-run lotteries governed themselves and required that prizes be paid through annuities. This wasn't law, right? This was more a matter of convention selected by the lotteries preferencing annuitie

13 State Employees to Share $224 Million Powerball Lottery Jackpot
There are lots of unresolved anger issues here against the lottery. Maybe someone was abused by the lottery as a child? Actually, two or three jackpot hits a year can make a tremendous different in revenue. Also important - even more so - is how the jackpots occured (lots of little ones or a couple of big ones?). Last year Powerball slipped under $2 billion in sales. This year, after the change, they will approach $3 billion in sales. People vote with their dollars. One can argue that

"Maddog Super Powerball Challenge"
For fun, I thought that we should have for a limited time only, a Powerball Challenge similar to the Dash for Cash in another forum where by, for 10 drawings, participants will make prediction as in Maddog Powerball Challenge, we would crown the winner after best of ten. I doubt PB jackpot would afford us the luxury of high jackpots, but we would play till the end of the Super challenge. I see there are names at the top of the official Maddog Powerball Predicition Records Board. This wou

why play the pick 4?
Quote: Originally posted by LOTTOMIKE on March 17, 2006 Quote: Originally posted by sirbrad on March 17, 2006 I actually agree with the author. I used to play pick 4 a lot, and even pick 3, and have won enough. But I still seem to win more playing the jackpot games then I did with the smaller games. I also play lottery games that provide a chance at a total life transformation (jackpots) and very rarely play the pick 3 and 4's anymore. For awhile I was getting absolutely no return on them, a
