Rollover probabilities for Powerball at $400M annuity.
The Powerball jackpot now stands at 400M, and from the annuity values of this jackpot and the previous one, one can determine that the lottery is estimating 88,377,000 tickets will be sold, with sales being twice that amount.
Assuming that the estimate is accurate - I will try to repost new figures if, as I expect, the jackpot grows - the Poisson distribution for the number of winners is as follows:
k, number of winners p(m,k)
0 60.39%
1 30.46%
2 7.68%
3 1.29%

Mega Millions multi-state lottery to get harder to win in Oct.
Im really surprised at the reaction to this change from most of the regulars here that i've read for years. For us gamblers to play the greedy, jealousy, envy card when we are trying to win a gazillion dollars we didn't work for is unbecoming haha! Let's show a little more libertarian spirit! However, if i'm wrong in 6 months or so and they change it back i'll say hey fella's (and gals...wink!) im wrong .
Seriously though, the motive for any business is profit but that is achieved by serving

Mega Millions multi-state lottery to get harder to win in Oct.
Just idea i have for prize structure pay out i could have lost it or how much this would actually work with total money brought in a total money paid out but i would mind paying the same dollar maybe maybe $2 a line but here it is
8 prize levels
5/5 +b= $ 80 to 100 million
5/5=$ 5 million
4/5 +b=$ 30,000
4/5=$1,000
3/5 +b=$300
3/5=$50
2/5 +b$25
1/5 +b=$10
that may be me just thinking crazy or w.e but im down with that prize pay out and the 1 in 259 million odds to w

What the final rollover probability on the 590.4M Jackpot was.
The outcome, one winner, was in fact, this time, the most probable outcome.
For the 464.5M dollars worth of tickets sold, with the number of tickets being half that amount the final probabilities using a randomized Poison distribution was as follows:
k, number of winners p(m,k)
0 26.57%
1 35.21%
2 23.34%
3 10.31%
4 3.42%
5 0.91%
6 0.20%
7 0.04%
8 0.01%
The second most probable outcome was another rollover, which might have brought the

lf you won the Big One:Would you have the stones to tell the rest of us so- Y/N?
I'd honestly think about it. It almost feels like I have the responsibility to share the hope if I were to win say 15million+ hard cash (no annuity/tax BS).
BUT I'd have to make absolute certain of my anonymity first. Maybe change my name before claiming then change it back afterwards, move, then wait a few
months after the excitement dies down, then I might try to reveal myself here. The hard part is proving that I did win some lottery without giving too much
evidence into which

Should a winning system be posted on the LP?
is a very shabby way to debate an issue.
Is there really a point in debating why there is just a yes or no option?
This would lead many to [mistakenly?] conclude that systems were the official's interest.
I never reached that conclusion and maybe because I'm not paranoid.
To say that I thought a Lottery Official contacted JKING about a Winning System is a deliberate attempt to distort.
It's really a simple question, knowing that some lottery officials are monitoring this sit
