You are misunderstanding the nuance of the article as to why is this even an issue? It means why don't all states have an anonymous option with all the privacy concerns. The fact is they do not have this uniform option. So winners are news.

Congrats on the nice win Mr. Anonymous and best of luck on getting your medical issues corrected. The important part is that you found your winning ticket.... I bet a certain portion of your anatomy was having pucker-factor 14 trying to locate that ticket... it's not funny about temporarily throwing the ticket away but I am chuckling at the life lesson of ticket security.

I would definitely want to be anonymous. I would think publicity from a big jackpot would endanger me as well as my family (including in laws). I would hire a bodyguard first.
