IRS Looking?
The IRS won't throw anyone in jail for not reporting winning a free ticket playing a scratch-off or $1 straight pick-3 win. The state lotteries are bound by federal tax codes and they don't give the free ticket and $600 winners W-2Gs.
The question here is not about good or bad tax advice, but is the IRS monitoring this site. It's possible, but it looks like most of the people here play jackpot games and not the games where it's possible win thousands tax free.
IMO those claiming they can

Post your scratch ticket results
Very exciting video and excellent win man !
When I scratched off a Gold Rush Tripler ticket in Feb and matched all 20 #s I figured I at least had $500, or up to $10k. But for GRT the only option for 20 matches is $1k. Oh well.....
I usually dont scratch the codes. I hate seeing FIV on $5 tics or TWY on $20 tics

I agree that I can scratch the play area numbers and know if I have a winner or loser almost instantly. If you have 2-3 matching end #'s, you might as well throw it. seeing a 12-22-32 or anything like that means loser. I get excited when i look at the play area and don't see anything like that, but then it still loses.lol I agree with AJ. Winner Take All was hot. I didnt know from experience, but the store owner told me and showed me his wins he sold. Also like Dr mentioned if you need 12, they

Been Playing Scratch Offs But Fear I Have Been Throwing Winnings Away...
The codes and winning do not have anything to do with each other in the way you're thinking they do. It's part of an ever changing security measure.
We've been through more than a few in PA...they now use a scan to win box for new instant tickets. They've mostly done away with letter codes,
I like the older ones that are still out there where I can check a code, at least you knew you had a winner by seeing letters: H, T, N, S, X, I, R, E etc.
Losers were: B, K, P, Q and a couple others.

How do you scratch - the entire card or only the symbols?
i seen that many time before too . if i were you i would just scan that ticket i would consider as luck not bad karma dooh . that ticket winning or not it will end up in trash now .
i scratch the whole area and even scan them to make sure to check if its a winner or not . i seen my friends playing just scratching the areas of the codes. i told them you guys probaly won something big already and threw it in the trash due all the high amount prizes are identical to the lettering of the loosing

Only one scratch off in TN has NO 3-letter codes. Why is that?
That is interesting. Of course as you know the codes are to I.D. a winner. I doubt it was printed by a different company since TEL has a contract with a ticket printing company. There may have been a printing glitch which cased them NOT to print letters on this particular ticket. (Not saying the tickets are flawed) OR... This could be a new evolution. Although the newer tickets have them... they still may have been printed before Bonanza. Lottery officials vote on logistics each quarter and orde

Post Your Winning Tickets Here
Some people around here toss out the tickets once they scratch off HRF
I think its deliberate for the lottery to put the losing code on larger winners so every year they save thousands / millions on potential payouts
I always pick up those half scratched tickets with losing codes but so far they all have been losers.

Lucky and unlucky Scratch-off ticket numbers
Hi, CarHauler - I have good and bad news.
Good news is that I made up for the last couple days by winning $100 on Winner Green - 2 matches of $50. Number was #25. First $100 I have won on the game. I got three of the new 2nd edition Bingos - #4-6 - and #4 won $5. The rest I think lost. I say think because that brings me to the bad news..
Pennsylvania got rid of scratch off codes starting with 2nd edition Bingo! This leaves more room for clerk-related fraud and missing winners. I know I hav

Woman takes Fla. Lottery to court for ticket misprint
I am sure the ticket doesnt say Match the number AND all symbols and letters below the numbers .
True, but it probably did say it has to be verified by the Florida Lottery which included checking all the security numbers and letter codes they put on those tickets to make sure they are legitimate winners. They said three years ago this ticket was not a winner, I'm surprised this case hasn't been settled by now. This case may have to be settled by the next generation.
I remember a case in th

Can I get some help with online lottery tax info
and try to keep it simple. The tax codes only requires the operators of gambling games to report payoffs over $599 on a $1 bet using tax form W2-G even though it's possible to have thousands of payoffs under $599. From their point of view it doesn't matter if one player collected more than they spent.
If a lottery retailer in sells $2000 worth of scratch-offs to one player and pays out $1200 for winning tickets, they showed a $800 profit. Some people want us to believe the player should repo
