Wisconsin woman's lottery winnings withheld by state due to unpaid debts
Interesting....some some who have pleaded the 'right to know' line when talking about winners not being allowed to remain anonymous in the case the 'right to know' gets a completely different reaction.

NY lottery winner plans to sue Gaming Commission to keep his $5M winnings a secret
An unemployed father from Norwood, New York, won $5 million from a lottery scratch off ticket he bought April 24 and he wants to keep the details of his windfall quiet.
But the New York State Lottery requires winners of $1 million and more to participate in a press conference where they receive a giant ceremonial check for their winnings. That obligation is written on the back of each ducat.
Now, the Bronx man plans to sue the state's Gaming Commission, arguing he should be allowed to rema

Massachusetts Lottery winners increasingly opting to stay anonymous
Nice story.............. Spillane is a sharp man to offer his services and smart folks are apparently taking him up on his offer..Good for them... Stay anonymous, avoid the look what I won/pay attention to me mentality. Don't take a chance and become one of those those winners who wished they had never won or worse, one who ended up deceased.

Georgia Gov. signs bill allowing lottery winners to remain anonymous
Excellent summary cdana! I am also always curious about the people who want to seek publicity for major wins. Winning the lottery is not due to the winner inventing a cure for cancer, helping the poor, or other personal, family, or career accomplishment. The win might make you a temporary kartrashian if you want to flaunt it 24/7 but if you are secure with yourself and have a life and other achievements, most people want to stay anonymous and get back to their lives.

In the UK, lottery players have the right to remain anonymous, without jumping through hoops. All US states should give all players the same right.

Woman nearly throws away $2M lottery ticket
Michigan is kind of funny. You can request to remain anonymous if you win $10,000 or more and it is a Michigan only game. So, Lotto 47 yes, Powerball no. Most, if not all, scratch offs meet the requirement as long as it the win is $10,000 or more.

Judge rules $560M Powerball lottery winner can stay anonymous
Now everyone else can sue the lotteries into oblivion. That is not good for the game. If you don't like the rules.. don't play. When i buy tickets here in Kansas i can remain anonymous and i absolutely would, when i travel to Oklahoma i will play by their rules not try to make them up because i don't like them. Changing the lottery laws is completely different than what you are referring to like slavery, etc.

Judge rules $560M Powerball lottery winner can stay anonymous
I wonder if she'll be outed through FOIA?
Maybe. At best the article is a very brief summary of the ruling and perhaps description is a better word. Of course it's what the ruling actually says that matters. Taking the article at face value, let's assume that the lottery can only use the name of the trust and her home town in any press release or marketing. What should we make of this?
However, Temple noted that nothing in his order could be interpreted to prevent the lottery commission

Judge rules $560M Powerball lottery winner can stay anonymous
This is both stunning and pleasing! If it were not for the state's already anonymous option for winners, the result might have been different.

Judge rules $560M Powerball lottery winner can stay anonymous
This is an example of the rich getting what they want through the court system. I would vote against her being able to remain anonymous. I am not against rich people, but the rules are the rules.
