Surprise $1,000,000 in your Bank Account
I would definitely let the Bank and the Feds know. This kind of mistake is ridiculous! Now, I agree with JustExploring, here, if I found some money, different story. Nobody claimed it. unmarked, etc., it is my blessing!
I received a Canadian Scam letter and just for the heck of it, took it to the bank it was drawn on. No way was I about to deposit it in my account! I knew better. It was so funny, the teller wanted me to put it in my account, I said no, I never cash checks using my own account

who know the statistics of lottery winners who go broke
GamerMom
It's not that easy. When people take an annuity they sometimes wind up selling it a lump sum to a company that buys annuities. When they do that though, they get pennies on the dollar.
Therre's a thread in in the News forum right now that mentions a couple who did this. (The thread is about a tax fraud case, but mentions it).

Ontario Lottery forced to publicize internal probe into 'insider win'
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. has violated the public trust and can't justify hiding documents about its internal probe into a $21.5 million win by a Cambridge convenience store owner, the province's privacy commission has ruled.
The lottery corporation has until May 9 to release documents related to the probe under a Freedom of Information request filed and appealed by the CBC, assistant commissioner Brian Beamish ruled Friday.
The public must remain vigilant. This information is

Lottery Post now has Extended Validation certificate
I know you're just kidding, but it's important for those who purchase LP gear. There's a lot of phishing going around the net, so you've got to be sure the site is safe when you use credit card numbers to buy something.
A couple of years ago, someone took 11 hundred bucks out of my checking account. Thankfully, my bank insures it's customers from fraud, and I was given the entire amount taken. Actually, only about 500 bucks slipped through, and that's what I was given credit to. I believe I m

winning the powerball or megamillions
If I won the big kahuna, absolutely not. I'd turn it in myself and pay the piddly taxes.
But if I won $10,000 and just happened to owe $9,999 in taxes? Boy, that would be hard. But I think I'd go ahead and turn it in knowing I wouldn't get anything except the burden of that debt off my shoulders. That would be almost as good as having an extra 10K in my pocket.
Now I know a few guys, however, who are so dead-set against paying the child support they owe, I can imagine they'd do anything t

Giving away a winning ticket
You sound like a kind person, Clairvoyance. It's heartbreaking when those people are standing on the street. I would probably cash it and then give the money away. A lot of people don't play the lottery and might not even believe it was real.
Regarding the man with the sign, although there are a lot of scammers, chances are that the man was desperate and needed money to feed his kids. I learned a long time ago that you can't go around telling people what to do with money. You either trust th

Mega Million System
You are only trying...there is absolutely nothing wrong with trying.... but at least you are not saying that you have found a guaranteed system that will make millions every time and shut down the lottery like this guy is saying here...THIS GUY IS A FRAUD because he said his method will put MEGA Millions out of business and he is trying to write a book...
I have never tried to put down people that try things in the hope something will work...but i will always notice scams like this...Why is h

Why do some people feel computerized drawings are not random?
I personally beleive that people like to SEE the ACTION (meaning balls bouncing around) vs a comp or any other nonvisual method that spits out numbers at random even if that random is true without fraud.
The KEY is VISUAL methods because our BRAINS absorb it better for whatever psychological reason...
Einstein once said that it is better to conduct experiments that employ visual methods and he recommended theories with visualizable results....

Only one major lottery in EU or US is not rigged: El Gordo, in Spain
Thats cute, but how about posting some actual proof that shows the lottery is rigged. Anyone can say something. It is not proof. Furthermore, if you post something that ridiculous on Wikipedia, it will be removed, because you have no factual source for it.
For example. I could post In 2008, online alias Grengrad stated that all American lotteries were not a fraud and put it in Wikipedia, but it would get deleted, because A. a statement by me is not historically important, and B. my statement

Wife sues husband for share of secret lottery winnings
Hope she gets the money, and some.
Florida is not a community property state, I don't think. However, I would argue that she has a share under principles of equity or joint venture or partnership.
In addition, I would argue that she's entitled to ALL of the proceeds considering the husband intended to defraud her of her share and in fact absconded with all the money. That is fraud.
Pay the lady!
