Probability of winning both MM & PB back-2-back.
I was just thinking,with the jackpots this high, what is the probability that 1 person could win both Mega Millions and Powerball back to back? Meaning, a Tuesday-Wednesday or a Friday-Saturday drawing in the same week. Probability of winning Mega Millions alone 1 / (C(56,5) * C(46,1)) 1 / 175,711,536 0.00000000569114597 0.000000569114597% Probability of winning Powerball alone 1 / (C(55,5) * C(42,1)) 1 / 146,107,962 0.000000006844253977 0.0000006844253977% Probability o

Hoosier Lottery
Jim and Jeff, I haven't got a reply to my email yet, but I'm tired of waiting on it. I'm going to believe that the cash value is approximately 40-50% of the lump sum as stated on the FAQ page. If the current cash value is 60%, then I think it's a result of higher than normal ticket sales. Jeff keeps saying the payouts are low, but he doesn't know how low or high the sales were either, something you just can't do. Also, has anyone considered that the reason why there isn't a roll over after the f

Anyone watch E! True Hollywood Story: Curse of the Lottery show?
It's interesting that you would automatically assume that the person would be a train wreck, why is that? I was just commenting on what the programming execs believe their viewers want to see; I made no assumption or comment on jackpot winners. But I suppose those viewers interested in hearing what the talking heads have to say for hours about Paris, Britney, or Lindsay would be very interested in watching A Year in the Life of a Lottery Jackpot Winner . The talking heads could discuss ho

Hoosier Lottery
Hey Floyd, First let me say that as a rule I admire your posts. They are generally well thought out...well reasoned and well written. However, when it comes to the doings of the Hoosier Lottery reason (IMHO) does not apply. Your point is well taken. I have been estimating the Hoosier Lottery's sales per draw as well and my figures are very close to yours. During this run I estimate that they are selling approximately 950,000 tickets per mid week drawing and about 1,200,000 for a weeken

Tennessee Lottery threatens to go computerized
Web site press release reveals plan is it a trial balloon or just bad news? By Todd Northrop Tennessee Lottery issued a statement on their web site that threatens to bring unpopular computerized drawings to the state. The upstart lottery, which in relative terms is still attempting to gain solid footing in the industry, made the announcement despite numerous player polls showing mistrust and discontent with the faux drawings. The lottery claims computerized drawings are exciting , al

no more lottery
we can have these things without a lottery win. A lottery win speeds up things alot. But point is that if you set goals and work towards things whilst waiting for a lottery win and don't get crazy with buying tickets you can achive those things just the same. remember buying 2 tickets only makes your PB odds 2 in 80000000 not 1 in 40000000...... you buy 15 PB ticks and its 15 in 800000000 and so on. Buy your couple ticks a week and leave it at that. you have just as much chance of wi

Couple wins $15 million lottery jackpot after redeeming $10,000 ticket
For a Nevada couple, good things come in twos. And that includes winning big Powerball jackpots in Arizona twice. Just days after winning $10,000 with a ticket bought at a northern Arizona caf , Barry and Barbara Salzman traveled to Phoenix to collect their winnings and ended up buying another ticket from the Arizona Lottery office. It just happened to be the $15 million jackpot winner. Of course I don't believe it, I just don't believe it happened, Barry Salzman said at a press confer
