Probability of a Rollover in Powerball.
The powerball jackpot has rolled. The cash value is $29.4M, the advertised annuity is $64 million dollars.
The average 6th round drawing sells 16.3M tickets. If this is how many tickets sell on this drawing the distribution of winners will have the following random probability:

My model of jackpot evolution gives the following probability:

WOW, TALK ABOUT ADDICTION: Woman stole $2.3M to buy lottery tickets
This is not the kind of jackpot one Long Island woman probably had in mind.
The former bookkeeper for a doctors' office pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree grand larceny, admitting she stole more than $2.3 million that she used to buy lottery tickets. Prosecutors, who described the bookkeeper as having a gambling addiction, said the woman spent as much as $6,000 a day playing various lotto and scratch-off lottery games.
She spent most of it to feed her pathological addiction, said

6/19-last top prize in Unlucky for Life?
Booby prize meaning terrible odds for lowly pay-out? I think MD's Multi-Match game which replaced Classic Lotto is of the same boobyness. They eliminated a perfectly good game which grew in size and had a decent pay-out, for a rip-off pay, to pay, to pay game. The game goes like this; each play is $2.00 you pick 6 numbers then the LOTTERY COMPUTER picks another 2 sets of 6 numbers for a total of 3 sets of 6 numbers! If you have pairs or triples on consecutive lines you win small prizes like th

“Money doesn’t mean a great deal to me"
I can't speak for anyone else but ........
I can't for the life of me understand why people feel that money isn't important. Please explain to me why those people are hell bent on convincing others that life is just one big happy family and love is all you need.
Here are the top 5 reasons why MONEY is important.
1. Having the means to donate some of your wealth to the needy.
2. Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever worry where the next paycheck is going to come from.

Poll - PB & MM vs a National Lottery
Quote: Originally posted by goldrush on July 4, 2006 If should not be a matter of a State Vs Federal. Let's have both, and let the people decide. Some will decide to play their local state lottery, some will play the US Lotto, some will play both. And the vocal minority who are opposed to lotteries can choose not to play any! EVERYONE WILL BE HAPPY!
As the Federal Government needs more revenue, and while a US lottery would not solve all it's financial woos, it would raise billions of dollars,

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
The sales figures at lottoreport are now available. Surprisingly the sales for the last jackpot are not the lowest seen since the institution of the new matrix, although they are lower than average. In fact the last first draw sold almost 700,000 fewer tickets than the first draw from yesterday. The small growth in the jackpot may be a function of the MM consideration of the possible effect of the California jackpot. Remember that even the MM's prediction of a jackpot amount is just that
