Iowa Lottery retail check finds no cheating
The Iowa Lottery said today it found no evidence that lottery ticket winners were cheated when it conducted security checks last month at 120 retail sites statewide.
Three lottery underecover investigators posed as customers and visited 126 randomly-selected Iowa retail locations on Feb. 24 and 25, said Iowa Lottery Vice President Mary Neubauer. They presented 128 winning tickets with cash prizes ranging from $1 to $100.
In every instance, the retailer paid the correct amount, Neubauer sai

California school teachers hit $76M lottery jackpot
Great story, turn out good...Is good to hear a teacher winning millions....What i don't like is to hear that young guys that appear couple of weeks ago age 24 i think that won....That's why the lottery should specifically choose the winner even if is cheating, i'll also hate to see an ingeeneer or architect or people that make 75K win the jackpot, because is not fair....The lottery is too random...
What does that tell you when teachers have to play the lotto in hopes of a windfall, doesn't it

Michigan Post 2/2-2/8
Since a bunch of people contacted me about the goings-on in this thread, I just thought I would summarize a couple of things:
I cleaned up a few posts, so if you happen to find a post missing, just know it was to keep things from getting too hairy. I left a lot of them, especially the ones that were civil. I am very much against the creation of multiple identities, and it is fact a hard-and-fast rule of LP that someone cannot do that here. The issue of posting numbers after the drawing seems

Lottery retailers busted in raid
Very nice graphic!!!
Perhaps there had been reports to law enforcement of winning tickets having been kept which is why they sent them in to get proof.
Think the worthless ticket was a real $1000 winner that an undercover officer was told by a dishonest clerk that it was not a winner.
Shame on them for cheating customers, but they'll probably have a long time to think about their actions.

What's the name of the movie?
I seen a movie one day that played out a state lottery that was cheating. I think they were putting weights in the balls they didn't want to come up through the hopper, and leaving the ones they wanted to come up lite.
The movie concluded with a man that notice something different in the way the balls were flying around the machine - and re-ran the tape.
It was a good movie. hmmm, I wonder what gave them this ideal to film. LOL

Conn. man's last lotto ticket wins $10M for widow
Okay, okay. I wanted to keep my post simple, so I didn't get into all the what ifs and was only referring to the lottery and other similar gifts. I assume she's a US Citizen. They've been married for 59 years. AFAIK a spouse normally would not pay estate tax. However, since I just went through this (on a much, much smaller scale!) when a relative died, I realize nothing is set in stone and anyone can contest a will or something the deceased left behind. Yes, I agree that a trust is a good way to

Braking the law
The California State Lottery Act didn't say much about legal ramification of cheating but I do like that they specified the monies from the sale of Lottery with being ADDED to the Education fund not used as a substitution for money already in place ( AS I have heard other states have done, Now how trued that is is anyones guess- but its nice to see that they said it.
Anyway I found this on the CA Regulations
All draw devices must comply with the specifications approved by the Director t

I totally agree, that's exactly what there doing, they see what we play and take the lowest payout. That's why I don't give them a head start by posting all my numbers here. I like the SS# thing but to be honest I think they have someone monitoring this site and see what we post. And the reason I know they watch the site is because I made a post a while back that they're cheating and someone posted a comment saying look at the revenue of payouts this year or something like that, so I say to my s

Has anyone here read Gail Howard's book-Lottery Master Guide?
Because we can't see the mechanism behind computer drawings, it makes some people wonder if there is a program that eliminates the highly wagered combinations from being drawn.
Just based on payoffs, state lotteries should expect to keep over 50% of all pick 3 sales. Even some of the smaller populated states are getting over $50 million in pick 3 sales each year. When they can make a minimum of $25 million a year by running an honest game, I can't see why they would risk that by cheating.
