$675 MILLION: POWERBALL SETS ALL-TIME LOTTERY JACKPOT RECORD
Right. I saw the final amount last night was $524.1 million though the advertised amount was $500 million.
Wouldn't be surprised if it starts going up even today, particularly in the afternoon when folks get off work, etc. It will most definitely increase substantially come Saturday, just wait and see.

$675 MILLION: POWERBALL SETS ALL-TIME LOTTERY JACKPOT RECORD
Interestingly, the was a period of several years in which Powerball had a semi-capped jackpot that would only allow an increase of $25 million for each roll that set a new record. I think the lotteries were worried about reaching the $1 billion mark, and then having nowhere else to go.
Judging from the crazy ticket sales, they were smart to get rid of the cap.
Personally, I think lotteries should offer both capped and non-capped games within each lottery jurisdiction, so that players have

Make your Powerball jackpot amount prediction
That's fairly accurate if you consider two things, the increase between last draws and there being one less day in between draws.
I think the media hype will help make up for the missing day.
It's crazy to see the amount of tickets being sold. It could very well peak $900M before Saturday's draw.

$500 MILLION: Powerball jackpot explodes in ticket-buying frenzy
Reaching a billion in one more draw is possible, but not likely. Even if it tops out at 550 tonight that's an increase of 450, which is 50% more than we've ever seen before, and that was almost 4 years ago. I'd guess 800+, and wouldn't be hugely surprised if it got to 900, but I wouldn't expect a billion.
As for how many tickets, they need another $306 million in cash if tonight ends at an even $500. At 68 cents from each ticket that's 450 million tickets. Depending on the reserve fund it mig

$450 MILLION: Powerball sales bonanza sparks early jackpot increase
It's been a long time since I paid attention to such details, but I thought they honor the advertised annuity. There's extremely little risk in doing so, because they generally make conservative estimates, and almost nobody takes the annuity. I'd guess that there's less than a 10% chance of having to honor the annuity value, and perhaps a 10% chance of not having enough to fund the annuity if somebody takes it. That's a 1 in 1000 chance of losing the few million it would take to fund th annuity.

$500 MILLION: Powerball jackpot explodes in ticket-buying frenzy
Like many people I was not expecting another $50 million increase.
I would be curious to know how much the jackpot will be for Saturday's drawing if no one wins tonight?
Anybody have any idea?

400 Million PB drawing on 01/06/2016. OK LPr's here's the Q?
That would take at least a couple of decades. There's a limit to how much people are going to spend on any one drawing, especially when they keep on not winning, and a trillion is a VERY large number.
Suppose that people collectively spend a billion dollars per drawing - 500 million tickets, or about 2 tickets for every person in the country old enough to play. That's a lot more than have ever been sold for any historical drawing. With each drawing, the jackpot would increase by half a b

$334 MILLION: Powerball jackpot rolls into the new year
hmmm. Ordinarily I would be ecstatic about a jackpot (CV) this high. However, can someone please post the ticket sales for the last 7 days to get the figures for the last two drawings?
I'm trying to figure out how the JP can have a $45 million jump from 255 to 300, but then fall back to a $34 million jump when the JP is higher.
At this point in the game, each increase is always bigger than the previous jump. $9 million less equates to a big drop in sales from the week before.

Florida Lottery Holiday Millionaire Raffle
I bought one at 10:51 around the 550,700 range, and another in the 552,600 range at 11:36, so they're selling at around 2,000 per hour right now. Sales rate may increase later in the day. They need to sell at a rate of approximately 16,500 per hour for a sellout.
I may buy another one later in the day.
Good Luck to all ticket holders!
