$250 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot ramps up
I remember reading an article where the property was currently appraised at $750,000. Even in that case it's still a middle class home in many of the major metropolitan centers of the country. I was paying $1100 per month on a very small studio apartment (1 room, small kitchen, full bath) when I lived in the DC area a couple of years ago.

Three women vying for ownership of $1 million lottery ticket
It comes down to ticket purchaser Sharon Duncan. The article and video don't indicate if Sharon Duncan used this Super One Stop lottery computer to scan this scratch off ticket that she had purchased -- either at this Super One Stop or a different Lottery Retailer.
If Sharon Duncan had indeed had her ticket scanned at the Super One Stop, and the scanner indicated that her ticket was Not A Winner, then Sharon Duncan should ALSO be given the $1M prize from the Arkansas Lottery Headquarters. For

Rant About Greedy Non-Winners
I don't think so, according to the old article, it seems he wanted to exchange a donation to Metallica's favorite charity in exchange for the meeting. Money going to a good cause, good publicity for Metallica and one fan's dream fullfilled.

Iowa Lottery security chief bent on determining identity of jackpot winner
Since you must be 21 in Iowa to purchase lottery tickets, maybe the purchaser bought the ticket for someone that was old enough to purchase a ticket in most states but still to young in Iowa.We should be finding out this week,at least according to the article.

US coming around? Softens stance on internet betting..
google it. But you can't post the article on here. I was always under the impression that the ban did not cover P3 or P4 (lottery games) I guess it doesn't. only sportsgames (betting.)

Connecticut to audit lottery winners for back taxes
Like RJoh, I assumed all states did this. I seem to recall reading an article here on LP a few weeks back about Massachussetts going after a lottery winner who'd won millions. They assumed he was a 10 percenter : someone who cashes tickets for others who are trying to avoid paying child support or back taxes. So apparently MA does this as well. Does anyone know if all states do it? Or which ones do and don't?

Connecticut Classic Lottery CT 6/44
It looks like it was 6/40 prior to 1989 if I read the article right.....even prior to that, the game was called something different and started out as a 6/36

Do the lottery people have a general idea of where the juicy scratch offs are?
I read an article a long time ago where a Lotto employee would know a specific store where the big jackpot prizes where and his buddy would go and buy the whole roll. They did this enough times to make the lottery suspicious and got caught. They won, well i wouldnt say won but they came out with 347,000 around there... Pretty crazy.. im pretty sure the lottery changed their ways after this guy.
