Job question: After winning a $100 Million jackpot, you would...
I would retire Take 1 million in cash for interest gained and living expenses. Take the rest of the money and buy gold bullion bars. Take it to a secret hideout and stash it. Then when I am gone people will spend 100 or more years looking for the buried treasure.

Virginia man claims lottery raffle prize
Badger, I agree that it's all marketing hype, but if he was retired at 60 he probably does have a net worth of over a million with this prize. Most people don't retire when they've got a mortage and no money in an IRA. Most of the time when people use the term millionaire they are talking about net worth, but many of those people aren't stinking rich. There's a huge difference between someone with a net worth of $2 million and someone who has $10 million in the bank. I'd be very excite

$1 million lottery ticket was overlooked for weeks
I understand your comment, spy. I would love to get a check for $750,000. However, keep in mind that they deduct 25% automatically when a person wins, but if he doesn't have a lot of deductions, he will end up paying much more in federal income tax. With young children, I think he means it's not enough to retire and take care of his family. (That's why it's so hard to interpret what someone really means from a newspaper article.) Congrat to the winner! It's a good thing he didn't wai

First 2 winners of $1 million lottery prizes come forward
Burt Isabell had this reaction Tuesday when he learned he'd won $1 million in the Tennessee Lottery: I just started hollering, 'You're looking at a millionaire!' No one half-believed me, he said. Then I showed 'em the ticket and of course they asked to borrow some money. Isabell, of Sylacauga, Ala., and David Smith of the Old Hickory section of Nashville were the first of four winners to come forward to claim their $1 million in the state's first Million $ Madness game. The other t

Men threaten discrimination suit against N.M. Lottery
justxploring: I acknowledge there are people in their old age who are still contributing to society and I have no problem with them continuing to work/lead normal lives just as long as they are still being productive and not endangering the lives of other people. As I stated, in the case of airline pilots, they should be allowed to continue to pilot jets as long as they pass all performance tests and health checks. The key difference between my personal story and the examples you cited i

You got your jackpot money. Would you change/do things differently?
I would eat in at restaurants instead of getting carryout and eat at nice restaurants more often instead of fast food all of the time. I would drive 30 miles to get gourmet subs instead of eating at local Subway. I would tip well all of the time and tip the other people that I am supposed to tip that I currently don't. If I saw something I wanted, I would just buy it instead of can't afford to. Eventually the can't afford to would turn into I don't need it so i wouldn't spend all my money away.

would you play if.....
It depends on the amout of the lowest jackpot amount. Me personally, I don't play anything but the Mega Millions (and powerball once in a while) because the lowest jackpot is just enough for me to retire on. The NJ Pick 6 Lottery game is too small and to me, not worth the aggravation. That jackpot is only $2 million (Annuity value) and that would be quickly reduced to less than a million after taxes and cash value. If they lowered the Mega Millions Jackpot to anything less than what it i

2 million dollar Supercomputer?
I just realized something..I said earlier that you could study in depth MegaMillion/PB with a supercomputer, but if you wanted to crack the lotto, the best thing to do is (for the starting payout that megaMillion or Powerball give out, of 12 or 10 million) is to study and try to crack the state's Pick6 6/49...Wait 'till it grow and hit it a couple of times or different states, and you will get what mega million or powerball starting jackpot gives out..It is not advisable to go after MegaMillion

how much money would it take for you to be set for life?
5 million after taxes would be more than enough for me to retire on and never work again. i would get a nice home for about 300-400k and a new car for no more than 35,000.and put the rest in the bank and watch the interest grow.

Do you wait for the PowerBall to get to a certain amount?
Geez, how much will it take for you to retire on ? 7-8 mill isn't enough ?? Why spend $10 on a chance to win 7 or 8 million when I can have the same chance at 25 or 50 million for $10? We've had the discussion about your odds not being better when the jackpot is big, but they aren't any better when the jackpot is modest, either. If you're going to spend $n per year on lottery tickets you might as well concentrate your efforts on the bigger jackpots. The only reason I can see for playing
