Pari-Mutuel Powerball
PB seems to have committed a bit more to the long term results than the other games, and it seems to be working. If they had doubled the price without raising the starting jackpot they would probably have lost even more players than they did. That would have resulted in small increases, and lower average jackpot offerings. By risking some minor losses if there's a winner in one of the first few rolls they've increased their gross income compared to what it was before the price increase. The occa

Cali Powerball players: How much wagering for first draw?
The Powerball playslips are already out, and play starts tomorrow April 8th.
So California Powerball players: how many lines will you play for the first draw April 10th? More than or same as you play Mega Millions?
Sure the jackpot is *only* $60M right now, but will likely increase several million from Cali players contribution by the time the draw comes around.
I'll probably play 10 lines, as if it was a larger Mega Millions draw. 5 SP and 5 QP on one ticket.

They haven't publicized it but they are making some changes to Lotto. You can read about it in the commission meeting minutes, but essentially, if you pay an extra dollar on Lotto, they will pay $2 if you get 2 numbers. They also increased the payouts for hitting 3 numbers, 4 numbers and 5 numbers. I think 5 numbers will pay a guaranteed $10,000. Kinda like a megaplier or powerplay.
Also, if the jackpot rolls, the increase is going to be much smaller now. I believe, could be off on the amount

Do you see PB jackpots of $300 mil plus a fluke going forward with California joining in soon?
How many states offer the game is mostly irrelevant. What really matters is the odds of the game. At 175 million to 1, there will be an average of one winning ticket for every 175 million tickets sold. Selling 175 million tickets results in a cash jackpot of about $112 million, or about $180 million advertised.
Adding more players to the game will result in selling more tickets for each drawing, so the odds of a winner for the 7th, 8th, and 9th drawing of each run will be higher than in the p

Three friends honor long-time pact to split lottery winnings
It will probably be okay for these 3 fellas.
No, DC81, the U.S.A.'s Federal Gifting annual limit was just raised to $14K per recipient. However the current lifetime limit is still $5.12M (total of all recipients in one's lifetime, if married filing-jointly, twice these amounts are allowed in both examples).
[Note. Our Senate may reduce or increase either of these whenever they majority agree.]

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Any MM ticket has 2.5% chance of winning something and a 99% chance that something will be $10 or less so realistically the only way to justify playing is to ignore the odds and play for the jackpot. We can't win a jackpot without matching the bonus number and by playing all 46 bonus numbers we're guaranteeing 1 chance out of 3,904,701 chances. The only way to increase that 1 chance is by using a bonus number multiple times. The choice is between having 1 chance out of 46 of winning the jackpot
