How is this not a massive fraud by the Florida Lottery?
Ron, just the opposite-- the Florida Lottery had record breaking sales of scratch off tickets for two weeks in a row and they have posted press releases to that fact on their website. The record breaking weeks were the week after this 10 million dollar scratch off was announced. They had two really good weeks of ticket sales and they've sold millions of tickets. The prizes were reduced after that initial marketing push that resulted in these record breaking sales. Obviously 25% of the prizes wer

Powerball powerplay
Yes, players playing for the Jackpot win in PB should think twice about spending an extra buck on the PowerPlay. As for me, when I play PB, it's usually in a pool that I run at work. Depending upon how much money I collect determines if I buy the PowerPlay. (The total amount of money I collect has to be divisible by 3 with no remainder. For instance if I collect a total of 36 bucks because 18 people are in the pool, I buy 12 lines with the PP as opposed to buying 18 lines without it.) The

Have you Contracted Powerball Lottery Fever Yet?
Fever? Naw. Just the usual. I play every draw for MM, PB, and TxLotto. Mix of picks and quick picks. Almost lottery fatigue actually. We have an office lottery pool that plays when the cash option hits $100m. It's not a big pool, just 3 tickets per player, but we dropped PB from $6 to $4 for only 2 tickets per person. We've been playing twice a week since the new year. First MM, then right into PB. Nobody here is rich, but nobody wants to be left out when the pool hits. All this

Joys of running a lottery pool
Today I collected money from my lottery club and one member brought up something to me. We play a combination of quick picks and self picked numbers on Powerball, MegaMillions, and Lotto. She thinks we should try playing the same sets of numbers every time and see what happens since we've been playing for 10 years and haven't won big yet. I looked back through my records and found we usually win lower tier prizes in fact, the last time we didn't win was for the 9/5-9/17 round of tickets and prio

This makes no sense whatsoever- agree, disagree- what?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_State_Lottery#Powerball In November 2012, California promulgated the regulations for Powerball in the state. Similar to Mega Millions, all non jackpot draws in the state are within an intrastate pool, with California sending its jackpot share (30% of draw sales) to MUSL for addition to the multi-state jackpot pool. This leads to different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in California when compared to those sold in the other 44 jurisdictions.

Help/Advice
Before I retired I was in a work pool that played the local 6/49 game and we matched 5of6 for $1500 several times. To cash the tickets and avoid any member having to pay extra taxes we allowed a full time college student not working to cash it. He/she was allowed to keep 10% of the prize for taxes and given an equal share of the remaining $1350. As a full time student supported by his/her parents of which one was a member of our pool, their taxes amounted to nothing. We just had to draw straws t

Does joining a lottery pool " increase" your chances of winning the top prize?
I think not.. here is why, l have read of folks who have been in lottery pools for ages who have not won anything substantial-when was the last time you saw a bunch of them standing on the podium, telling the press what they plan to do with their newfound wealth? It would seem going solo is it: At least if you losing by buying more tickets all by your lonesome, you don't have to put up with the complaints from the others in the pool. * Continue to have a Great week People..

Ny Pick 10
You're very welcome! It's like Mission Impossible trying to keep the pool at 20 numbers much less 12! Good luck with that one ... and I agree with you on taking your time; I used to spread myself too thin playing a bunch of different games at the same time and paid the price. Good Luck tonight! P.S. I forgot to add in my previous post that you may want to try making some overlapping pools, instead of just one big or small pool. Like having 3 sets of 12-15 numbers since the total pool is 8

(Just For fun)- You part of a pool where one of the members decides...
Doesn't matter. One person in a group can't arbitrarily change the agreed upon stipulations unless all other members are apprised of the change and agree with it. No meeting of the minds with all members, no extra. Where it would get tricky is if there were no guidelines set. If all they did was decide to have a lottery pool without specifying that everyone in the pool would split the winnings equally among members, no matter what, then this double share giver would have a case he could argue.
