if invited to join a lottery pool at work: would you or not?
I run the pool at work. We have a filing cabinet that every one can access. I send out an email to everyone in the place that tell them when the next drawing is, what amount the JP is at, and what time I will be getting the tickets. It is up to them to put their money in the envelope before I get the tickets. I've been doing it for almost 2 years. I've never had any money come up missing. The most we've won is $7. Here is a copy of the rules I send out. Is it perfect? No. But it puts the r

$205 MILLION: Promise of big jackpots met by new Mega Millions
It will produce mega jackpots. The enormous challenge is the 5 main numbers. I was curious, so I did a little number crunching. The old 5/56 game, five winning numbers represented 8% of the number pool. Compare that with a state lottery 5/39 game that would be 12% Now the new main 75 number pool represents 6.6% I think this is what the Mega Million Lottery foks figured out. They knew that Powerball was beating them due to their bigger jackpots due mainly to their two dollar ticket prices. Few ti

Pool / Syndicate or Solo player?
I was in one once, w/ some people at work. I never got to see the tickets and after the second time, I asked to see them after the drawing and was told they had been discarded. I don't think any of the numbers were winners, but I didn't like the way it was done. My pop used to do it w/ his afternoon domino/moon-playing buddies; they drafted an agreement, stipulating how much money ea. would put into the pool, signed it and had it notorized, then ea. signed the tickets after purchasing them

How BIG can a lottery pool be?
Picture this. A BIG PB or MM was hit in 1 State with 1 Ticket. An anonymous, encrypted tweet comes in on asking for bids on the winning Lotto Ticket. How big can a Group be to offer to buy the Winning Ticket AT PAR (CASH VALUE)? Can the solo Ticket holder avoid Sales Income Taxes in the sale of this Winning Ticket? Can the Treasury be denied income taxes after the Prize is divided up by the buyers (Lottery Pool), such that the division would end up being small enough for them to offset the

Odds or Probability?
Yeah, try picking a red marble from a total of four marbles(red, blue, yellow and green), what are the odds for or against picking a red marble?, what is the the chance/probability of picking a red Marble? I do apply the same ideal in my work out. I slice the total pool (0-9)(called it probability, which in itself a fluid concept left to interpretation) into segments(call it subsetting, section...etc), these segments are my odds. So in the above marble scenerio, I can slice my pool into 3 or 4 se

Salon lottery winners settle dispute
A lottery Pool with no rules is a recipe for disaster. Pointless saying you did not get your fair share -afterall its not like the win was $50 million. If one joins these infernal pools-does it mean that no person within the pool can purchase tickets outside the pool? Better have that in writing or keep your mouth shut. Losers quit when they tired- Winners quit when they've won

JP Question - Would Appreciate the Help.
The Jackpot is not affected by the lower 2nd thru 9th prizes, it is a separate pool. From all the sales of tickets, 50% of the money is reserved for payment of prizes, the rest goes to the state for funding and operating costs. That 50% is made up of 32% going to the Jackpot pool for the MUSL national prize, and 18% going to the 2nd thru 9th prize pool for the local in-state prizes. If they don't have enough money to cover all the winners in the 2nd-9th prizes, they have to take the money
