Scratch off Secruity-retail level
I would guess that the person who is in charge of the lottery scratch off distribution knows which books have big winners in them. If they didn't it would be possible that a series of winning ticket books could end up in one or two zip codes instead of spread out across the state. There are numbers printed on the front and back of the ticket books/rolls these must be tracking codes as well as security codes. In Maryland if you have a winner they first swipe it thru a scanner. Then they type in th

Online lotteries in Brazil
Quote: Originally posted by Todd on July 22, 2004BobP,I think the point is that the company is an illegal pyramid scheme and they are lying about their registration in Norway, not that you can't play other states' games. WGI is not a real lottery-centric company, they are a MLM outfit masquerading as a lottery company.Dang, I do not want to argue WGI's side. Norway is saying WGI can't offer a lottery bacause they are not registered in Norway to opperate a lottery. Odds are they would not be g

E-mail lottery scams arise again
A fool and his money are soon parted, especially if the fool believes everything in his e-mail box.Darrel Van Sickle wasn't fooled, however. The former owner of Darrel's Pool Supplies on Dearborn Street thought something was fishy when he got an e-mail recently telling him he had won a lottery. All he needed to collect his winnings was to contact a fiduciary agent who would facilitate a transfer of his funds, most likely by asking Van Sickle to provide his bank information so the money could be

Foreign Lottery Scams Making Big Comeback
It starts with a postcard, a phone call -- maybe even an email -- telling you you've just won millions in a foreign lottery. It's a scam that's went underground for a while, but lately has made a comeback -- in a big way. This one here is from the Euro lottery, said Daniel Dujardin.Dujardin, 70, says it was a postcard that first hooked him in. 'You're eligible for certain amount, thousands of millions of dollars.' But of course, there was a catch. Oh, they want money up front either for taxe

Online Lottery Pool
Quote: Originally posted by Todd on March 03, 2004 waynr,Who knows? Maybe someday. It would take a great deal of research on my part to make it happen. I would want to make sure everything was bullet-proof before embarking on such an endeavor.I also have some other ideas kicking around -- things that exist nowhere on the planet -- that might even be better than pools. Unfortunately, because of the complexity, it will be some time before even the concept can be revealed. (Probably after I ap

Lottery player comes up a loser in supreme court
A lottery player whose interpretation of the term wild card gave rise to his claim that he had a $20,000 winning ticket got little sympathy in Maine's highest court. The Supreme Judicial Court on Wednesday denied Larry Moody's appeal, saying his interpretation would make every Wild Card Cash ticket a winner.Moody claimed the prize in the instant lottery game, even though none of the six scratch boxes showed a hand with a winning pair. When he scratched a separate box labeled wild card, the fi

Are Lotteries Rigged
Jim695 wrote: Corruption and fraud are on the rise in state lotteries. No doubt that this occurs however many of the games are run by gaming officials that are constantly monitoring the games. Stealing from the coffers is one thing rigging the game is another. I'm not saying that it can't happen. It would take some clever trick to fool the gaming officials. Especially with guards watching video taping every move the lottery personnel make. The preparation the personnel take before the balls are d

To settle this feud once and for all
Then he posted the winning numbers after the drawings with some BS showing how his system would have picked the very same numbers that were drawn and some posters called him a fraud. Then he said if only he had the histories of these games, he knew he could do better. Obvious he understands English and knows as much about the Internet as anybody at this forum, so he could have gotten that information himself. However, some posters did send him data on the games they played and waited for some pr

To settle this feud once and for all
Ants, what feud are you talking about?Lottoking posted that he could easily pick a winner in a lottery with a few tries. He posted a series of 7 numbers combinations and said they would have produced a winner if they had been played in MegaMillions, PowerBall or some 6/49 games and some posters called him an idiot because no such thing was possible. Then he posted the winning numbers after the drawings with some BS showing how his system would have picked the very same numbers that were drawn and
