But Dr65 there is one sure fire way to keep that from happening with any pool. Sure buy the pool QP tickets like always at the retailer! But when it comes to that person buying their personal lottery tickets they should be from another store and an hour later and they best not be QP's and not for the same amount as the pool tickets (example 25.00)! That stops all conflict about who's tickets (the pool tickets or the personal tickets) were the winner! Never buy the pool QP tickets at the same sto

What is the perfect number?
I like the answer 1 but since I haven't won much, maybe there is power in the larger numbers. So for me the answer would depend on the rules of the pool. I think everyone should be allowed to play if it's a pool at work, as long as they follow the rules. However, I like playing my own numbers and I wouldn't want to share my personal prize money outside of the pool. That is the only way I would ever join a pool. If 10 people pitch in $5 each, then only those 50 combinations shared by the g

MM 470 Million!!
Thats cool. Good for them. I'll just be sick if it was the office pool at my job that I found out about after it closed. One pool had 58 people, and the other had around 30. If they won, they will get around $1.2 mill each after taxes for the bigger pool and about twice that for the smaller pool.
Oh man i'll be hot if it was the pool at my job.

Help organizing a work pool and forming a contract
My brother and 6 other workers just decided to form a lottery pool for the powerball. So far they've all agreed to put in $4 twice a week and split the money. I wanted to help him form a simple method of running the pool and a contract to hopefully help in the event of a jackpot. Does anyone have a contract they'd like to share. I was thinking something along the lines of a one pager that they all sign when they pay for each drawing. Also copies of that page and copies of the tickets made a

Hello
You can't win a jackpot if you play in a pool. There are also risks playing on your own while playing in a pool because if you win a jackpot on your own the pool members will sue you especially if you have anything to do with running the pool or buying/holding the tickets. On the other hand, only a fool plays in a pool they don't run themselves if they have a valid strategy to win and the only thing they need is capital. If the people at work want you to kick in $5.00 bucks for the $200 milli

SoCal man sues to get share of $315 million lottery jackpot
I agree in part that folks who pool together do so to increase their ticket wins. Otherwise we *had* to boot a co-worker out of our pool for the reason cited- Rarely cast money into the pool but always agreed to *pay*later out of the pool winnings. We finally made it a pay-n-play as you go. Each game was separate and playable based on the members. The guy still badgers us to let him back in when the jackpot gets pretty high ;we graciously decline. The irony is...he's one of those guys that woul

SoCal man sues to get share of $315 million lottery jackpot
good advice. I'm reviewing our rules too. I've drafted a receipt for the pool buy-in that includes the rules and requires members to sign that they have read, understand and agree to the rules. The rules used to allow me to pick the numbers but I'm changing it so that I have to buy quick picks.I won't give up the option of being able to buy my own tickets though. This freedom is given to all members and has always been a part of our rules and is included with every email distributing the n

SoCal man sues to get share of $315 million lottery jackpot
I guess the court will think the fact that he worked in the same office where there was a lottery pool will give his claim some merit. That should protect his lawyer, who after all only knows what the client tells him, but his lawyer also wants a chunk of lottery change and is aware of the gray areas of malpractice. I'm sure neither the loser nor his lawyer really want to to go to court where every other person in the pool will testify he wasn't in the pool and every person who who worked in th

Couple learns downside of lottery pools -- the hard way
Some people think when they join a lottery pool, they not only share the fortunes of the pool but the fortunes of all its members. I've read stories about lottery pools that won and are sued by one its members that didn't pay and other stories about lottery pools suing one of its member for a share of his winnings from tickets bought on his own or outside of the pool. This is one reason some people who buy lottery tickets for themselves won't have anything to do with a lottery pool. Lottery po

Your lottery pool won,but you didn't play
After hearing that a group of people at work formed a lottery pool in California and won the Mega Millions $315 million jackpot on Tuesday, you just know that there was probably at least one other person who played in that group, but decided not to play that day, for whatever reason.Maybe they thought they were just throwing their money away and would never win anything, so they stopped playing in the lottery pool. Maybe they just accidentally left their $3 sitting on the table at home and ther
