Minnesota Lottery audit finds high costs, no crime
The Minnesota State Lottery spends more money and provides less to the state than comparable lotteries and should revisit its ties to the St. Paul-based marketing company Media Rare Inc., auditors reported Thursday.Legislative Auditor James Nobles released the audit of the lottery about three weeks after former Lottery Director George Andersen died, apparently by suicide. Andersen had met with auditors about the review the day before he was found dead. We found many things to question and critic

Lottery clock at 58 days
As deadline nears, work moves swiftlyEach morning, somebody changes the big numbers on a chalkboard easel in the lobby of the Tennessee Lottery's busy headquarters.Today it reads 58 Days! That's the countdown to the targeted first day of lottery ticket sales, on or before Feb. 10. With thousands of dollars in incentive bonuses for lottery employees tied to that date - and millions in college scholarships to be funded by August - work is moving swiftly here and across the state.Contractors are

DC 5 Lottery needs to be audited immediately. The same thing that happened to Tennessee in 2007
This was bought to my attention from jimjwright regarding my prior post of DC Pick 5 1-200 million odds
As of right now Dc 5 has played all single digits 36 times in a row. Not 1 duplicate digit has been played in the 36 draws. Duplicate digits make up roughly 70% of the numbers. Mathematically this is impossible and seems to be what happened to pick 3 and Pick 4 in Tennessee in 2007

Arizona lottery retailer employee sued after buying $12.8 million ticket knowing it was a winner
it was the first time a big winner was amongst the rejected pile.
I think I remember a similar story in the past, but it's not a good enough memory to be very confident. Memory aside, probability suggest that it would he been for a smaller amount prize.
I'm obviously not a lawyer but it's pretty obvious that the ticket belongs to the store.
It was unsold at the time of the draw therefore the store had to buy it.
I agree, but primarily for a different reason.According to the firs

New York Lottery reviews couriers in state following Texas Lottery controversy
Yes, there can be more than one winner. But they could never win the total jackpot if one or the other bought all the combinations.
So when that happens the prize you're playing for is not the prize on the ticket, but half what it says. You could claim you were enticed or misled to buy the ticket due to the large prizes when the dot com who sold the ticket knew you could not possibly win the total jackpot.
This same dot com is under investigation by the DOJ and facing lawsuits from inve

$1.08 billion Powerball lottery winner Yanira Alvarez filed claim for jackpot over five months ago
Do they expect someone to remember where and when he/she bought every ticket?
Did you notice the part that said If details about the purchase don't line up, this could be cause for further investigation ? They expect people who won very large sums of money to remember some of the details, but if you don't they'll normally just look at it a bit more closely. There's a big difference between establishing that the claimant is the owner and establishing that the claimant isn't the owner, so unl
